They're saying the rule about umpire contact also involves intent, whether or not contact is actually made.

It does look like there was some kind of intent, the way he got so close to him.

Why does he do this sort of stuff?

how many players every week say something to an umpire as they’re walking towards the huddle? How many times does an umpire explain a decision in more detail as a player is heading towards the huddle?

they want to crucify Toby for no other reason than because he is Toby.

any other player in the competition, once it was established that there was no contact (and there wasn’t), that would be the absolute end of the conversation. the only reason “they’re“ still going on about it is that it’s Toby.

We can’t get him for murder so we’ll get him for double parking in a loading zone.

It just doesn't look good.

It's a bit like the fend off with the boot. It just doesn't look good.

That's a first. Never seen anyone charged with intent but failure to touch an umpire.

Gee whiz, had my heart in my mouth during the last quarter. Very proud of boys for holding on.

I usually love getting one over the Swans, and this one no doubt felt good, but I can't help be feel bad for the Swans. They've had a phenomenal season.

Cumming has a been huge for us with his rebound 50s, hopefully he can get up vs Cats.

Not sure what to make of the Green incident, looked bad at first but the replay I've seen just now might suggest otherwise. We'll see what Stevic says. Might be another huge week of build up...

Again, if you can't see the difference between accidental contact during the contest and potentially deliberately contacting an umpire after the siren, you're beyond rationality.

You know, the way the Swans and their supporters are reacting to yesterday's loss, they are really starting to hate us.

2016 QF? They made the GF anyway. 2018 EF? They were never in it. But this is different.

This time, we've shattered them. An otherwise good season down the drain by a single point.

They'll be waiting for us next year.

Probably hurts because it was self-inflicted.
We had a small patch in the last quarter, between 8 minutes and 4 minutes to go, when we had chances to score.
Everything else was all Swans and they just blew it.
Wicks and Bell muffed the best chances.

At some point the Swans are going to have to accept the obvious.

Namely, that sabotaging our Buddy trade and giving us Mummy + Heater instead was the greatest own goal in NSW/ACT AFL history.

Everything positive we feel about the legend that is Mummy is felt in reverse at the Swans, and it just shatters them.

We should keep playing Mummy twice a year as a specialist emergency sub for Derby games only because his mere name on the team sheet causes them PTSD.

I think they realize it was more than just a loss .... with their list it could be their only chance for a while. Old players near the end and who knows what the young “guns” will be. Next year has every chance of not being an improvement on this year ... especially with a tougher draw

Bit like us in 2016 - improvement is not always linearly upwards!
