Does Scott even have much to do with production on the show or just a host really? Remember the original host wasn't even him.

Cavalier Productions makes The Block and the man who runs that company is Julian Cress. He's the boss of the show. The Executive Producers are David Barbour, Julian Cress, Justin Sturzaker. Scott Cam is more than a just host though. He does play a big role in the project management side of the show and setting the production schedule. So he does have authority on the show to make calls about what's going on. That's my take. I can't find any info that suggests Scotty is a part-owner or stakeholder in Cavalier Productions.

If the quality of the boys work was as poor as the other contestants made out, why was it not mentioned in the defects report they’ve made such a big deal over this year? Or why do the judges only selectively use that information? Judging has always come across as contrived, but at least give us some kind of consistancy…

Yeah its all Julian Cress. He was always at the site whenever I walked past. Could tell by the his car always parked as close as possible (where it was agreed Block people were not meant to park) He also has been the liaison with locals regarding any issues etc.
I actually got to meet him and is a stickler for detail. They invited our neighbours to a special viewing of last years site before the auction. Food and drink to be provided from 6pm. I was there with my wife walking through the houses 5:55pm and she asked about the food as it was in the fridge. Julian stated very seriously that it's not 6 yet and will be put out then. By the time we came back downstairs it was just on 6 and he put the food out.

The block run its race poor ratings .

They were getting 700,000+ viewers a night before the scandal, hardly poor ratings. If it was 400,000 I'd agree with you, but the show is holding its own because it has a big fan base. It's been around too long now to expect the high ratings of over a million a night. But to still be doing as well as they are is a good effort for a show in its 17th season. The cheating scandal only added around 150,000 viewers per night to the show this week.
You people are always trying to write this show off. It's still has a few years left in it yet.

I seen one outlet say they had poor ratings .
I watched a few eps it's been pretty poor .
People seem to like drama so shows give it to them.
