Tbh I am not sold on Devon Robertson , there is a reason he slipped so far in the draft if we got a good offer from a WA club I would consider it
Don't want to stir up a hornet's nest but I'm leaning towards agreeing. A little slow ,not hugely skillful and needs to build up strength wise. He is hard at it and does some spoiling and tackling that others have his experience don't.

Going to be harsh

Out of contract players
Grant Birchall (R) - Retire
Tom Fullarton - Delist or Rookie list if we can (probably will be given another crack)
Archie Smith (R) - Delist, he's had his chance
Connor Ballenden (R) - Delist - too soft
Thomas Joyce - Delist - maybe rerookie if we can
James Madden (R) - Sign - 2 years
Brock Smith - Delist - got plenty of his type of player
Keidean Coleman - Sign - 3 years
Kalin Lane (R) - Take Archie Smith's place as the development ruck

I heavily disagree with the Robertson call. Give him a year or two and a consistent run at it and I think he will be a gun.
Obviously we persist with him because he has a great attitude . I don't think it's cut and dried he'll be a really good player ,looks more of a role player to me . But he's young enough to work on it all.

I think the issue is that realistically the best we'd probably get for him is a second rounder, where picking up a role player would be seen as a bonus.

It's a fair enough analysis at the moment but I can see definite improvement in him yet, and he's the perfect age to step in when Neale and/or Lyons start running out of legs. He does the little things well and as a young player that's often something very hard to engrain.

I see him as a good replacement for when Lyons retires. Not fast, not overly skillful, but hard at it and tackles.

I think we'll be lucky if Dev ends up like Lyons. Very lucky if he ends up like Joel Selwood

I think what works against Dev at the moment is his playing style doesnt really suit anywhere but the midfield. And we arent really lacking in that area.
Just look at Ben Keays now that he has got a full time opportunity.

yes i agree. Like what I see of Robertson. Just needs some consistent games and will gain further confidence

Am I crazy to think Taylor Garner (delisted) from North is worth a look for some depth while Hipwood is out?
Would be another challenge for our medical team to pull off.

I think Deven is projecting quite nicely and am surprised that others think he has such limitations. I thought he was one of our better players in the middle part of the year and for a second year there is a lot to like. I can't wait for 2023 when I think he'll start breaking out like Starc did this year. Same for his mate Jax, both look like good longterm players.

As much as I think Burchall should retire, he is a rookie so it really doesn't affect our list planning to a major extent. Guys like Joyce and Brock Smith will have to go to free up some spaces you would think.

Rookie spots are essentially senior list spots these days considering they're allowed to play without being elevated, and you can move senior listed players to the rookie list.

You can move players directly to the rookie list from the senior list this year. Retaining Birchall limits our ability to move guys like CEY or Ely to the rookie list and open up senior spots.
