Traded Adam Cerra traded to Carlton for pick #6 and F3

If he leaves (as widely reported), what will Freo get in return?

  • Two good 1st round picks

  • Top 10 pick and change

  • A 1st & a 2nd

  • Later 1st rounder

  • Two 2nd rounders

  • Early 2nd rounder

  • Other 2nd round pick

  • Less than a 2nd rounder

Cerra wouldn't last to our pick in the PSD ans we all know it.

Also I don't want to screw Freo over, they invested a top draft and years of development into Cerra and should be adequately compensated, knowing our track record we are more likely than not to draft a spud like LOB with pick 6 anyway.

Pick 6 is gone, and I am fine with it.

Why, its a cut throat industry why wont clubs use this to their advantage... Even if it isnt us.. Collingwood or North should be doing everything possible to Cerra for free...

Jon Ralph can report it as much as he wants but unless Demons come up with something then he wont be going there. They simply dont have the picks to get this done without a Jackson or a Pickett leaving

Does not mean we cant do trades with other clubs to get in done. If Cerra did nominate the Dees it would likely end up 3/4 club trade including Brisbane and someone else.

It would not be Weiderman for 13 - You would have to give us either 42 or 33 back depending on negotiations, obviously, we would demand 33 but maybe settle for 42 if it meant landing the deal and what we got for Buntine.
I’d be really happy with Weid + 33 for 13. Do GWS really need Weid though?

Wait so you would accept a pick in teens and a second rounder in the 30s for Cerra? :s

Where did I say that? What you said made no sense.

Melbourne won't commit to him without knowing they will have to pay for it. To say that we can just say stuff it we'll deal with Carlton is quite frankly stupid and shows a poor understanding of how trading works.

I would assume they would move out players like Brayshaw and Weideman to accommodate bringing in Cerra and bundle up as much as they can to satisfy Freo.

Cerra Is not the type who will jerk Freo over. Besides he has no interest whatsoever in playing for North or The Pies.

He will end up at Carlton.

The PSD is a last resort mechanism for players, and these days it's mainly used for kids over looked in the National Draft.

Free Agency has pretty much made the concept of the PSD, in your terms obsolete.

But why... By Cerra demanding he gets traded for a 'fair' price, it means he is decreasing the chance of his new club having success. In an industry where we spend plenty of $ and hours trying to get an advantage.. Yet players and clubs wont take the gift horse on offer.

You are making a lot of assumptions. Our recent track record of top 10 picks is hardly flash anyway.

Plus the pick will likely end up with pushbacks at either 8 or 9 anyway.

We have enough young talent coming through to risk giving that pick up, Kemp and Durdin showed so much exciting signs.

Unlike other Melbourne clubs with a top 10 pick this year, we have expectations/hopes of playing finals next year, Cerra is a ready made and developed gun who will provide much needed grunt work and assistance in stoppages.

Trading away our first rounder does not damage our chances for future success in any way, it's all just guesswork and speculation

We need another forward. But, strategically it is more a move to get Josh Fahey with cheaper picks. 13 sits right in our dangerzone.

The deal for us values the forward at pick 30, what other key forward can we grab at 30? Plus we accumulate points to get Fahey at the right price. I think if we can walk away from this draft period with Weiderman or other TKPF (valued around pick 30), Fahey, Callahan we have done super well.

Thing is those players aint worth much at all? Brayshaw of 4-5 years ago would have got something good. Not now. Say at best Melbs can get us a teens pick this year and a teens pick next year. Does that suit us?

Why do people even say this? How do you know this? Where is the evidence? I personally think there is 0 chance he comes to the Pies myself, but how you can make a call on his character when you dont even know him lol

North is the only vic team with a top 10 pick that has less chance of playing finals next year than Carlton.

The fact he will nominate Carlton, the team best positioned to give Freo closest to what they want in a trade would seemingly indicate that

Also Pies do not have the salary cap space to fit in what he is demanding..

His mum was a north supporter and he wanted to get drafted by North. North have a way brighter future than Carlton soooo 🙄

Yes but even these guys leaving wouldnt give you the picks mate. Fremantle are after a Top 10 Pick around 5. You guys will not be able to get that I wouldnt think. Plus we would want a second rounder to.

Fremantle just have to refuse Melbourne if they dont come up with adequate compensation. We then go to Cerra and say its either Carlton or PSD
Sounds like a great strategy. Cerra can then choose to go ND or PSD and it is on Freo not him.
