Bangladesh have now smashed NZ at home like they did to us, on sub-par pitches. Once again not many scores over 120, can't see how this is good for the game and T20 cricket.

Shows how different teams think about T20 cricket that, one is using pitches to get a significant advantage in a meaningless bilateral series against depleted sides and teams like us and NZ are sending over second and third rate teams over to the sub-continent. Because of this Bangladesh are going to or have passed Australia in 6th spot in the T20 rankings. It will be interesting to see how Bangladesh perform at the World Cup and I think it will depend a lot on conditions. If Afghanistan are pulled out, Bangladesh might get promoted straight up into the super 12 stage.

Should us and NZ be concerned about these performances or disregarded completely seeing as so many gun players aren't playing?

I find the low scoring games much more interesting than the 220+ games tbh.

You could make a case for those pitches in test cricket, but T20 is supposed to be a fast high scoring. A low scoring game like it is great here and there but consistently having teams make less than 100 isn't what t20 was designed for, as the scoring rate is less than 5 an over.

Without Archer and Stokes, I think England might be a sneaky chance to miss out on the semi's. Windies should make it through and to be honest I think we have a better team than England as well. They're bowling attack is sub-par. NZ and India should easily go through in the other group.

I didn't see the games so can't be sure what the specific pitches were like Bangladesh pitches are always low and slow, basically rolled mud. Its what they have to work with. If that's all the problem was, that's just local conditions and not any real doctoring.
Tests over there can be a long grind for much the same reason, nothing in it for bowlers and not enough pace for batsmen to use for scoring. Tight lines mean slow scoring but few wicket taking opportunities.

I'll be quite interested in how Pakistan approach things now with white-ball cricket after getting rid of Misbah and Waqar, starting against NZ today and at the WC. Not that happy with their WC squad atm though

The fact that we are persisting with finch is embarrassing to be frank.

he is currently injured will have absolutely zero build up to the tournament on top of having some patchy (at best) form even before he got injured.

at least the big show is having a good ipl. Without him firing I can’t see us making the semis.

He and Warner are a deeply concerning opening pair. Even if they don't get out early the strike rates that they have been batting with lately have been horrendous.

I've been following Sri Lanka cricket fairly closely recently and it's clear to me that they think they'll absolutely breeze through their first round group judging by the comments of Mickey Arthur (their coach) and on their website by people within Cricket Sri Lanka.

I reckon they could be in for a bit a shock if they go in half-arsed. The gap between them and the "associate" sides is closer than the gap between the top sides and Sri Lanka imo.

Agree with all of this. I think Bangladesh will cruise through but SL could be in real trouble.

Team I want to see

Stoinis
Inglis
Smith
M.Marsh
Maxwell

Expecting Warner and Finch up top and to be on average 18-1 after 5 every game though.

Would prefer Dan Christian in the squad compared to Wade, better lower order hitter and makes it easier to put Stoinis at the top rather than at 6 or 7.

Are we playing only one of Stoinis and Marsh or do both play and we go in with 4 bowlers?

I think both will play especially Marsh with his recent form......bowling of Stoinis is an issue though coming back from his injury ....but its only 2-4 overs expecting both to share the bowling duties
Maxwell can also chip in with a few overs as well. I'm assuming the bowling line up would then Starc, Cummins, Agar and Zampa.

I hope this ends up being the case, but am curious as to how the batting lineup then works out to be

Finch
Warner
Smith
MMarsh
Maxwell (floating to come in basically at over 12 always ahead of anyone else)
Stoinis
Inglis?

Seems weird to have Stoinis down the bottom. Absolute clogger to start.

Yep that looks about right, 4-6 will be floating. I think they'll pick Wade first over Inglis though

Swap marsh and smith. Marsh has killed it at no.3 and deserves that position on form. Smith has been average at best.

Are the practice matches on kayo/foxsports? If so, some juicy games coming up
As in like the big teams World Cup warm ups? Given a lot of them are being played at the same time as actual World Cup matches you'd really hope the ICC would give the actual World Cup matches some clear air.
