If i was dawson and grew up a crows fan there would be nothing that could convince me to go to Port. Even though the crows are currently bottom 4 I'd like the challenge to get them back to the top again. Would be the stuff of dreams to do that for the club you grew up supporting

I reckon a few hundred extra k could convince me.
Get them to front load it and then pull a Gibbs or Neale on them.

I sincerely believe that the biggest problem they had was their every advantage in that game. By Ken’s own admission it was a perfect preparation, literally every possible thing pointed their way.

they started and came out so flat because the tea leaves were so strong that the players couldn’t help but feel it. See it, start to taste the possibility that they were a team of destiny, this was their year. It was all lining up

because of their perfect preparation the players couldn’t help the urge to complacency

ironically they’d have maybe been better off if it hadn’t seemed so perfectly setup leading up to the match
I'd read that the main training session before the game they had the soccer balls out and kicking them around. Just seemed like a very casual "we've got this in the bag" type attitude. I can understand the thought on trying to keep the pressure off, but seemed like it may have backfired in they thought they just needed to show up to win.

Yep - mentally they were cruising.

Dogs on the other hand would have been helped by health SA’s decision plus a ‘raider with nothing left to lose’ mentality.

Recipient for disaster. Best thing that could have happened is that they would play the game in Perth.

The sight of Bont firing on all cylinders early would have played with their minds as well. Not sure they were prepared for him to have such an impact.

That’s basically how every game day session goes. It’s just a casual walk around on the pitch, maybe some running, but heaps of soccer and other stuff.

Not really. They started flat and carried on, that’s not dependent on one player who they assumed would be playing anyway
Port rocked up as if the game was a formality and had already planned their trip to Perth.

They made the cardinal sin, Prelim Finals wins are earned, not gifted.

Great idea to have team-success benchmarks trigger pay bonuses instead of individual ones (games played, B&F results etc). We fly as one after all
But then you have those players who actually had a good year and busted their gut only to lose out on a bonus. That can result with a lot of disharmony. Creating a bonus system needs to be created carefully.

Had that same discussion with my brother who lives in Robe. He knows Dawson's old man so I asked him to get some update. I know that Dawsons family all follow the crows except the old man's brothers wife. She is a Port fan. If I get any update I will update.

The family are rusted on Crows fans, including Jordan, I can confirm that.

I've also asked my contact, who's a relative, to get more info, but i think they're keeping pretty tight-lipped.

Our efforts against melb and wb towards the end of the year was actually pretty good.

we finished the year well. Played well across the whole ground but were put to the sword by the classy midfields. Melb and Dogs and Nic Nat snd his lesser crew combined. I posted that we'd go a fair way with Port as they don't have that kind of midfield. We were a pretty reliable side late in the year. Expand the midfield rotation so we can start getting some class and speed in there and we'll start developing into a good side.

It's a material world. Just ask Madonna.

Money is pretty convincing, though surely Dawson isn't a big ticket item. If Crows really wanted him I don't think it would be so hard to outbid Port.

And, is Dawson that good that we should be gnashing our teeth at the thought he'll go to Port?

If he's definitely coming to SA he'll do what every other arrival/returnee does. He'll try to play one club against the other to extract the best financial outcome for himself. That's what I'd do as well.

I get playing one club against the other to maximise $ but at the end of the day it would be a ruse as there would be nothing that could convince me to play for port. Absolutely zero

LOL Ditto that! Although if I could get a game I'd play simply to sabotage them....kinda like Curtly Hamptons' last game for us

Powa seem to have a never ending sum of money to bring players in to their club. How can they keep doing this??

I think we should make offers to Rozee and butters and screw them Right over. We need to start playing hard and really get aggressive in the way we operate
Butters will head back to Victoria when OOC.

Ever thought about writing romantic novels..
There perfect preparation was a disadvantage 🤪 ??
Even if you read that back you'd give yourself a disagree.

Port got smashed by a better team.

No, Sanders is right on this one. Sometimes you need some adversity to be fully switched on.

I know in my own sporting life, the number one predictor of a bad game is a perfect warm up.

That's called bad preparation. Why fight for a top two spot if you percieve it as a disadvantage. Absolutely flawed logic there.

I would definitely play for Port.

I just would be a turnover specialist and choke when it mattered most.

Much like all of their players.
