It will be interesting to hear Caroline Wilson's thoughts on this development, she has been pushing for our relocation/elimination for 30+ years, it would be nice to see Ben bend her over and ram a red hot poker up her arse. Perhaps on live TV. :D

NORTH MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB: SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF ARDEN

For over 150 years, the North Melbourne Football Club has been the beating heart of what is now known as the Arden Precinct. We run four elite sporting teams – AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW – while sharing the Arden Recreational Reserve with the community.

With the release of the State Government’s proposed final Structure Plan for Arden, the future of North Melbourne and the Precinct looks bright.

Over the past 15 months, the club has worked closely with a coalition of local stakeholders, spanning local businesses, schools, and community groups, to champion a detailed response to the VPA’s initial Draft Structure Plan that addresses the exponential demand for active open space and social infrastructure, including a permanent and expanded home for The Huddle – the club’s community outreach centre, that delivers education and job pathways for young people in the community.

The North Melbourne Football Club is the heart and soul of Arden. Over the last decade we have invested millions of dollars into our facilities. Now the Structure Plan outlines an opportunity for the club, alongside other local stakeholders, to help to shape the future of Arden and ensure this will become one of Australia’s best urban renewal precincts and the headquarters of North Melbourne for another 150 years and beyond.

The club has its own vision for the future of our home and this Structure Plan is a step towards realising this long-term vision, where sport, science, innovation and community can co-exist together with state-of-the-art facilities and programs.

North Melbourne will continue to work closely with the VPA and State Government as part of the Structure Plan process, for the benefit of community and club alike.

North Melbourne Chief Executive Officer Ben Amarfio said the proposed Arden Structure Plan means the club will be based in one of the most exciting urban precincts in Australia.

“As one of the largest stakeholders within the precinct, over the last 15 months we have been working tirelessly with the Victorian State government, local community groups and businesses, to ensure local voices were heard and represented throughout the consultative planning process,” Amarfio said.

“The Victorian Planning Authority and Department of Transport should be commended for listening to our feedback and the feedback of the community and accommodating such a diverse spectrum of uses and community needs in their proposed plan.

“The revised draft structure plan is exciting news for our club and the community and will be the impetus to transforming the entire suburb. The Government’s 30-year plan underpins how important the North Melbourne Football Club is to the area and to the State and it will be a major boost for local residents, students, workers and businesses.

“The North Melbourne Football Club is Arden and Arden is the North Melbourne Football Club. One does not exist without the other.

“Arden is our home and we look forward to playing a key role in shaping the future of this thriving precinct, working alongside the community and the State Government to bring the Arden Precinct Structure Plan to life for many decades to come.”

North Melbourne has been supported through the structure plan process and in the framing of its vision for precinct around Arden Street by its Commercial Development Partner, Hamton, one of Melbourne’s leading property developers that is also leading the $2bn redevelopment of Moonee Valley Racecourse.

To the idiots that yell the clouds:

Hopefully giantroo can make a GIF of it.

Wow old mate Flake Shaker having a meltdown on Twitter to his 3 followers. If he had the balls to concede he was wrong I might have a modicum of respect for him. He really doesn’t support North Melbourne at all
Why do members of this board continue to talk about him and post his tweets on here?! Move on, he's gone.

Today is a good day for the club and still people can't resist. Time to move on.

She will do her usual and pretend like she's never had an issue with North. Then throw the boot in at the next available. We've seen it too many times before. * her.

I get what you’re saying and agree. Just wondering if he was man enough to admit he was wrong…he isn’t

Lol, typical big footy, so many Debbie Downers.

The council could have ripped up our oval and put flats there, instead we've got a second oval and thousands of residents in and around the club every day. We've finally got a train station to the door of the club, and bars, cafes, and restaurants for before/after aflw/vlf games.

No idea how you lot are looking at this as a loss. Cannot wait to spend more time down there.

With the news out today, I remembered Ben Buckley's comments he made on October 22 last year. Worth posting it again.

"Our Home is at Arden Street, We will always be at Arden Street, we will always be a team based in North Melbourne"

"We've got a great opportunity in the precinct, with the Arden Precinct redevelopment, I think we will have 20 to 30 thousand people living and working in Australia's biggest urban renewal project for some time right on our door step, We plan to take full advantage of that."

Once this is all done, will there be any other clubs in Melbourne (or nationally) with so many people living and working right on their doorstep?

There will be so many opportunities that this precinct will present to us that we can leverage to secure our future.
We could basically make it a US College type setup.

Tef is never truly gone. He has never let a banning stop him before. We all know he is out there. The Tef is out there...

The Tef files...

The issue is that there are still a small number of people who channel him in their posting.

This. Seems like some posters are more interested in "told ya so's" then looking at the actual plans.

Can't help but be a little disappointed. The only benefit seems to be a second oval with club rooms to keep the foot traffic off of our oval.

I had hoped for something serious like the Fremantle - Cockburn ARC project with investment from the local governement. Maybe something a little serious like Richmonds rebuild with some seating.

Those calling it a victory are only fooling themselves. The only victory is we are at least mentioned this time. For the amount of money going into the area and the time spent grafting to get something out of it I'd say we are barely at break even.

I expected more for the hard work North puts in to the community.

I find the contradiction in the bolded between your posts hilarious, especially since the posts are only hours apart.

If you want to channel him completely, now you need to pretend you didn't say what you said in the first post.
