For those suggesting SPS be traded for Brander, he can be obtained as a DFA

That's only if WCE want to be nice to Brander....and if a suitor is waiting they will want a return for him.

Don’t mind Voss, but can he run through the midfield?

If he could, I think a few of ours would be concerned as he would give them a fair rocket…

Probably the most feared mid of his time, hard, fearless, cannon off the right, great hands, vision and could take you out fairly when you least expected it!

If SPS is out of contract, I don't think it really matters. I'm not expecting much back.

I also believe Brander has been offered a contract (a sh*t one) and is not gettable as a DFA.

You may be correct ...

AFL trade news, rumours, whispers 2021: Jarrod Brander future, trade table, deal, West Coast Eagles players out of contract, Nathan Kreuger, Geelong Cats, Jordan Clark, Quinton Narkle (foxsports.com.au)

West Coast utility Jarrod Brander hasn’t been offered a contract extension by the club and is on the search for a new home, reports 7 News Perth’s Ryan Daniels.

It’s believed the Eagles will look to facilitate a trade for the former Pick 13, who only played 11 senior games in 2021 in a season the Eagles fell well short of expectations, missing finals.

Expected. Wasted across HB and if he wasn’t going into the midfield, he needed to go. I can totally understand why he would be fed up or want to leave. I have a fair few reservations with Samo, so I’m not that annoyed or upset that he’s going. And I wish he finds consistency in his game else where. It’s what we get back that will be that main problem here. Would suggest we explore all avenues with their list and look for a win-win. All the best to him.

Devastated. We will get nothing for him and he will play 100 good games for his new club. We failed him and ourselves.

Would you rather lose a SPS who has shown some glimpses? or lose a Cerra who has shown heaps?

Just trying to put things into perspective. SPS isn't an enormous loss.

Possibly... seems most likely to get through to the draft 👍

I think it's a bit unfair to blame SPS leaving and lack of kicking on as a player on Teague.

Probably a multitude of factors that contributed as well, I get the feeling he probably never really felt settled living in Melbourne/away from his family (for examples)

As I say, I am very sorry to see him go, but let's be honest, this was on the cards for weeks, if not months.

We will get max a second round pick, just to see him blossom at WC.

WCE have to delist him. They won't and will want a return. He was originally a pick 13.

If they can't get a return for him then they "threaten" going into the draft on him essentially by offering a token base contract which all parties know he will reject, to try and get the player to tell their preferred club (ie. us) to cough up something for him if we want him. It's happened plenty of times.

It's generally older long serving players that teams will delist to make it easier for their move.

I know player for player trades are rare, but I wonder if a Brander for SPS trade can be discussed? I like Brander as a backup KPD with wingman type athleticism - I think he’d fit in nicely at the club.
However it’s more likely the trade would be for a late pick - maybe 3rd round? I know that’s unders, but he hasn’t cemented a spot in our team so it’s unlikely we could realistically ask for much more than that.
Shame to lose him - would liked to have seen him under a different coaching structure to see if he could get back to his midfield best.
Just having a look at the draft order

West Coast have 29, 36 and 49

Bit to work with there

His family are a long way from Perth too.

I feel better knowing Diesel will be watching over whatever transpires CFC trade-wise from now on. If the bloke was prepared to cop de-registration to get where he wanted, I doubt he’ll be a mere facilitator. Hard nut in all respects.
