Teague destroyed SPS as a footballer. Square pegs in round holes

Sure, Teague had a role to play and so did Bolton gifting him games.

However, above all else, Sammo needs to take responsibility for his output. He clearly wasn’t delivering consistent performances and hadn’t got his fitness to a level where he could play primarily in the midfield.

When it comes to football I’m a simple guy..I want to see effort and intensity. Unfortunately for Sammo I didn’t see this consistently enough. Contrast him to Stocker.

That would be the better outcome if true - so fingers crossed what Carlton think is fair is a good deal.

The fact that it was confirmed as a trade to WC pretty much inmediately makes me think there has been some initial discussion between the clubs, at the very least. News also dropped a few hours after the JSOS signing, suggesting that we'd planned a bit of a carrot/stick approach.

I'm tipping the trade will be a touch on the underwhelming side, given the hopes we had for Samo. Reckon we've probably determined that offloading one or two almost-players is smart from a list mamagement standpoint, and have worked Samo towards that outcome. Do that and you're somewhat obligated to play nice at the trade table.

If we'd tabled a generous offer and he turned his nose up at it, take em to the cleaners. Don't think that's the case here though.

SPS hardly delivered the goods on a weekly basis under Bolton either tbh.

Some revisionist history going on here.

Ultimately the relationship didn't work out between the player and club. It sucks, but it isn't the first time and won't be the last time for us or any other club either.

He is a fine young man and I do hope things work out well for him at The Eagles,

Unfortunately for us, he was very unlikely to reach his potential at our club.

I think SPS was better in 2018 and 2019 than he was on 2020 or 21.

His development under Bolton who had him in the middle/forward.

He was very good in his debut year but didn’t really take another step, like we all hoped.

Once bolts got sacked Teague went back to experience in the middle, SPS played off half back and it killed his confidence.

I don’t see him walking into the midfield at WCE and taking his game to the elite level, but I can see his game improving with guys like NicNat, Shuey, Kelly and Yeo doing plenty of grunt work around him….good get for an
ageing list.

SPS, think we hurt his development in many ways, by not persevering with playing him through the middle more, at the same time his hunger for the contest was inconsistent

Has always reminded me of Aish, whether that's application or confidence

I hope he goes on to being a great player, I for one, would be trying to retain him

It’s always the way youngsters with obvious flair & natural talent don’t always have discipline, maturity or determination to develop into very good footballers. Yet one dimensional type always try the hardest to improve a little and somehow are maintained on a lists longer than they should. .

I'm disappointed to see SPS go but I can understand why from his point of view.

I don't think it is ALL on Teague but you would have to think if he was given more opportunity to train as a mid for a longer period of time and prepared during multiple pre seasons to play that role, he would have been given every chance to fill his potential.

At the same time though, he didn't seem to really knock down the door with the opportunities he did get especially when it came to consistency within a game. He has always been a good player (most of the time) but teasing us of potential greatness with his side steps, don't argues and his short kicking accuracy. I think his flare may have made him look like he has that special something but in reality has never really taken that next step (yet?).

He still may have that great potential, so it will be interesting to see how WC use him and what success he has. Good luck to him.

Who would you rather keep out of Samo and Fisher?

Apologies, I was looking at 2019 when he played 17 games and showed little. 17 games is a decent number to make the coaches sit up and take notice.
Agree Lochie has been showing a glimmer, but no consistency for a p10 into his 5 season next year, unfortunately his development has been disappointing, easily moved off the ball and rather conditional its going to be tough decision whether to move him on or not.
