Brander fills a position we have a severe lack of though and one that WC are well covered in. I’m assuming we are only discussing him as a potential KPD/swing man
I didn't realise he was 195cm. That does make him more enticing. Probably don't know enough about him, but he's never really stood out to me.

Clarkson, Bevo, Choco Willianms....& crazy Vossy. Not seeing a lot of 'normal' in much of the coaching

Imagine a hivemind coach of all of those.

Someone who will teach and lead, out bench press you and defend you, yell, scream and train you, crack the shits at you, sympathise and teach you tactics.

We need to tap the shoulder of Elon Musk.

You would be doing your off-season with nurse ratchet one few over the cuckoo nest style.

Not sure if it is right but I read today that because SPS has not been offered a contract he can make himself a free agent.

Said it 10 times unfortunately, "not offering" a contract is not the same as delisting. It's telling the player and their manager to make a trade happen. Otherwise they get offered a pissweak deal *after* trade week which means they need to accept or nominate for a draft.

Be weird if they told him he's out of the running. He's presenting to the selection committee tomorrow.

Oh man, first the meeting, then the result. I keep getting them two mixed up.

Weirdly aggressive but ok. Yes, I think that looking at Yze’s resume he’d be someone we’d want to interview. Given he’s involved in the GF and would rightly be focused on that, and that interviewing him after that would only be a week from now, it’s a poor reflection on the process that it could potentially be concluded without assessing him, if he was interested.

However it seems that the overriding criteria for this appointment is prior experience, successful or not.

my 4yo runs through a more rigorous process with his hot wheels tournaments than this selection process.

Im gonna go out on a limb here and suggest you arent happy with the seemingly current choice of Michael Voss.

The last two seasons I was very vocal in stating that Simon Goodwin was one of the worst senior coaches I'd seen. Then last off season they brought in Chocco Williams and Adam Yze, adding to Alan Richardson who was brought on board 12 months earlier.

Now look at the Dees. Playing some of the most complete footy since Geelong in their prime.

Obviously from the outside it's impossible to tell how much influence those three are having on the current group, but they are a completely different team to what they were a few years ago.

So whether it's Voss or Lyon or someone else, I'll be right behind them, BUT it is CRUCIAL that Sayers and Cook bring in the very best support and assistant coaches possible.

Luke Power looks like a great coach in the making. And talk of Scarlett and Lappin is encouraging. If we could poach one or more of Kingsley, Gia, Caracella or Yze as well then I'd say that I would be extremely confident in a change of in field fortune in the coming years.

If it ends up being Voss and a bunch of no names / unproven assistants, then I will be far less confident.

Seems like you still think he's a shit coach and you're praising the assistants for the turnaround? Is that how its supposed to read?

This is very true...its about the team. Although Clarko might be an exception given how many of his assistants became senior coaches and with assistants leaving Hawks were still successful.

But it definitely seems unlikely Melb would be in a grand final if not for them bringing in Chocco and Yze.

Media have been talking about Voss' people skills...so if he has that he doesn't necessarily have to be a master tactician, as long as some of our assistants are.

AFLCA awarded Luke Power best assistant coach for year 2021, at least we got one right.
We’ll done Luke hope this reflects in greater responsibility within the coaching department.
