Soccer victimhood will place this story within their mantra that the popular footballs are predominantly white bread outposts intent on keeping down the more cosmopolitan, more worldly soccer fiefdoms.
There are at least two problems with that perspective (amongst many):
1. It's not just about having an issue with foreign ownership, stacks of once Australian-made products have fallen into foreign ownership, it's that a lot of soccer ownership is by dubious people. And if it's not appalling human rights, it's the strong likelihood that money laundering and related nefarious activities are involved, which should never be countenanced.
2. It was the FFA themselves who implemented their very own anti-wog policy! So it's a bit rich to go blaming the white bread established, wealthy winter football codes and their followers!

As has been discussed ad nauseum over the decade or so we've been doing this. We can only interpret the information we have, and arrive at our own conclusions. There is very little in club annual reports we can be definitive about except where we have definitive comparison line by line data. Which is why for a decade of doing the financial threads we've always relied on onstructive discussions from a variety of contributors, and not just on the opinion of any one poster. The work remains a collobarative effort.

It does matter a great deal whether its foreign or domestic investors. You have for profit investors being gifted residential growth corridor land and are apparently allowed to remain anonymous and the business case hidden

The lack of transparency is frankly disgraceful.

In response to this proposal I am thinking that as an Australian taxpayer, why should tens of millions be spent by the federal government on promoting a sport in other countries?

Why should taxpayers money be used to pay for sports stadiums.?
If sports teams want new stadiums or stadium rebuilds that should use their own money and not rely on taxpayers

Economic flow to the city/state for one.

Take Adelaide Oval - specifically cited by pretty much everyone since it opened - there were very tangible benefits from having a new stadium located right in the CBD for CBD tourism and business. 30-50,000 visitors to town every weekend during winter cant be ignored.

So long as the teams/sports pay a fair rent - thats only partially the case in Adelaide where the SANFL/SACA makes all the money - then I dont mind so much. I draw the line at tens of millions of taxpayer money flowing to training facilities though.
