'William Tyrrell: Foster parents hit out at claims of new suspect
William Tyrrell’s foster parents have slammed claims that police have identified a new suspect in the boy’s disappearance, calling it “fake news.”

The foster parents of William Tyrrell have hit out at an assertion by police that they are closing in on a new suspect in his disappearance, labelling the claim “fake news’’.
Rather than welcoming the possible breakthrough in the case after seven years the couple, who cannot be identified, released a statement saying: “Once again we are forced to watch others objectify William for personal gain.”
“To publish unverified claims, without consideration to the hurt that articles of this nature cause, is disrespectful and devastating to everyone who knows and loves William,” the statement said.
It comes as the inquest into William’s disappearance and presumed death has been halted due to police identifying a new suspect.'

At least it get's COVID-19 off the front pages (dark sarcasm in the BF classroom).

So I haven't read the full article (being a Murdoch rag and all, I've got a strict no clicks policy there), but I'm a bit confused.
The police have asserted that they have a new suspect?
The inquest has been completed but the findings aren't being handed down because the police have identified a 'new' suspect?
These two claims have been published based on what the boss rozzer said on Sky but then the rozzers said something less certain to 9 news.
And the foster family are hacking on the media but the Tele has spun it neatly into the family slamming the police claims.

Also,

More press on new information.

Police have confirmed “new information” has come to light about the 2014 disappearance of three-year-old William Tyrrell as strike force detectives revisited the location where he was last seen.
On Sunday, Homicide Squad’s Strike Force Rosann marked the seven-year anniversary of the disappearance of William Tyrrell by revisiting his foster grandmother's home on the NSW mid-north coast.

“Further information has since come to light, as part of our ongoing review of the materials gathered by investigators since the moment William went missing seven years ago,” Strike Force Rosann Officer-in-Charge, Detective Chief Inspector David Laidlaw, said.

Police did not comment further as to what the new information was, but last week it was reported detectives had renewed their inquiries into a person of interest who had previously been dismissed.

What are you going to do, rely on the Love Media? No-one who was witness to SMH's disgraceful defence of Phuong Ngo could take that mob seriously...

After watching the special on channel 7 last night I think there was more questions than answers. The whole thing is very sus. In the police video walk through from the day he went missing there was fresh children’s washing on the clothes line. Originally the washing machine was broken? Even if fixed I’d hardly think you would report the kid missing then think oh I will just put a load on.
Given the police and government where forced to lie and keep a lot of information secret about William’s situation previously, how can we be sure they aren’t doing the same now. Could he have been in danger and was removed from foster family for his own safety?

I like your healthily cynical and skeptical wavelength of thinking. FaCS would have had some sort of childrens' equivalent of a Witness Protection Program, whereby endangered children would be given new identities for their own safety. (Such a system could have been mis-used by William's abductor(s).)
However, if this was the case with William, then why would NSWPF/FaCS leave William's biological older sister with the foster family, and bring in short-term foster children to fill the William void?

Hand washing, laundromat, using a neighbour or friends washer?

yes I know, but they had only just arrived the night before. Turn up with a bag of washing? Other inconsistencies where it was supposed to be a surprise visit but the grandma claimed she had told the washing machine repair man they were coming. I don’t believe it’s a an open and shut opportunistic random abduction.

How can you tell it was a fresh load on the line?

Interesting to look at but could be many reasons. My mother is obsessed with washing and will do regardless of what is going on - almost therapeutic. And would hand wash if the machine was brokenIf they left in a rush maybe they bought some clothes to be washed.

Was mostly pink childrens clothes and looked wet. It probably is nothing but it’s just another potential inconsistency in the story. Also noted how calm the 000 phone call appeared to be despite her claiming she ran around searching frantically for 30 minutes.

I’ve got young kids and do plenty of washing, reckon I’d have trouble telling if it looked wet or not from a far.

I wasn’t trying to say it was a smoking gun. Just noting some potential inconsistencies in versions of events. Interesting to read reports that claim forensics failed to find a single fibre of his clothing, hair or dna. Also claims the time stamp on photo taken of him the morning was was edited

I wouldn't say the Foster mother sounded 'calm' during the Triple zero phone call.

She didn't claim she was 'running around frantically' and it was reported as being '15 minutes', not half an hour as your post suggests.

Also, keep in mind that at this very early stage, I daresay the Foster mother, like everyone else, would have been 99% certain that he had simply wandered off. While you'd be concerned by not being able to find him, there's absolutely no way you'd expect an abduction had taken place. Considering all that, I assess the tone of the Foster mother's voice in the triple zero phone call to be reasonable in those circumstances and relative to the information currently known. There's an element of concern in the tone of her voice, relative to not being able to locate a small child after 15 minutes.

I could be wrong here, apologies if I am. But I thought I heard WT went missing at around 9.30, and the call was placed at 10.30. Is that the timeline ?

and did the neighbour say they heard the postman’s car at 10.30 (although we know now that it wasn’t the Postman’s car)

Think 9:30 was the time stamp on the photo which was apparently falsified. I will rewatch tonight and note the times again

Has to be Frank Abbott if we go by tonight's episode

Yeh I reckon it was him as well. Do you recall Caroline asking if Ray ever said what happened when he took Abbott and the 'kid on the televisiion' 300kms north? Were they dropped off somewhere?

Could Frank Abbott have given William to someone else in Casino?

All he said was that he took his fishing mate and the "little boy from the TV" 300km north. Was Casino confirmed? I thought that was just the assumed after doing some calculations. Regardless, what Ray supposedly said is huge, and there is video evidence of the car being on the road at that time. It's a major breakthrough but it also means the search area gets bigger and becomes more unlikely William will be found.

It wasn't confirmed as being Casino, i just went with that because it was mentioned and I think there might be something else that had that witness saying he thought it was Casino. There's a heap of towns he could have chosen and probably bigger, Casino was very specific and only has 10,000 people in it. Why did he choose Casino? And it's inland, not on the water where you might expect the 'fishing buddy' and his mate would prefer to go.

It would help to know if they were left there and if Ray came back on his own or just with Abbott, there's a lot of the story missing unless they have got more and aren't saying yet. It's a pretty massive breakthrough, agree.

Evidence certainly appears to be pointing to Frank Abbott. Doubt he will ever talk though & the main witness is now dead.

... unlike some of a couple of the earlier suspects which there was no evidence & one had several alibis. I can understand going hard after a lead, but when there is several alibis, it's time to look elsewhere, as it only takes attention away from where it should be.

Was definitely a witch hunt earlier. Focus on the easy target and hope to put enough pressure on him that he caves. Even though he had alibi and witnesses that placed him elsewhere. Next stop, let’s blame the strange old guy next door and see if we can get him to admit it. The guy could hardly even walk. Instead of looking for evidence Aussie cops just seem to try and fit people up to suit their version of events.

Frank Abbott is interesting, he was 72 at the time so would need to know more about his physical capacity to snatch a child.
