Haven't been keeping up. Did you start playing him predominantly forward?Really fell away since July
He’d start for you
That IMO would mainly be fitness, due to his lack of being able to do pre seasons it’s hurt him.Really fell away since July
Sounds like no one is really interested. His manager just trying to get his name out there.Strange situation this one. Not linked to anywhere in particular...
To stay or go? Big-bodied Cat deserves opportunity, says manager
The door is not shut on Charlie Constable staying at Geelong, according to manager Marty Paskwww.afl.com.au
Not that strange. Wouldn't be surprised if he was delisted. Just can't run.Strange situation this one. Not linked to anywhere in particular...

Sier has more exposed form but which one has higher (any) value?

Richmond really put a dagger to slow on ballers with the amount of pace they put on the game. They've slowly been pushed out of the game. But I do wonder with his height if Constable could start at half forward then rotate in to an on ball role post centre clearance
If he's free and happy for a cheap contract I'd say he's worth a look for just about any team in the comp because he's got upside and is an unusual type of player.
He would need to have a tank to do that and unfortunately that's his biggest weakness. I think you can get away with being slow if you can run all day but Constable fails in both categories. I've wondered before if he could drop behind the ball instead and be an intercepting player when he's not involved in the middle but realistically any small forward is going to have a field day running off him. The only way I can see him working at AFL level is if a team has a hole in their side for a clearance specialist but can also carry someone playing 50% game time. Realistically that leaves a list of zero clubs.Richmond really put a dagger to slow on ballers with the amount of pace they put on the game. They've slowly been pushed out of the game. Has a team ever tried something out of the box like that before? He would need to have a tank to do that and unfortunately that's his biggest weakness. West Coast basically do it with Nic Nat but in my (probably unpopular) opinion they're worse off for it.Has a team ever tried something out of the box like that before?
I look at Richmond with Lambert, Edwards, Cotchin all ageing and their young mids probably being either a bit away or possibly not up to mixing it in the midfield and think what if you used Constable for the minutes that Prestia, Martin and Graham aren't on ball and you need some beef.
With the sub rule now you don't have to worry about rotations as much. Teams can easily get away with 1 guy playing around 60% game time. Melbourne and Brisbane did it for large parts of this year.
I know that's a gamble of a list spot that probably doesn't work out but clubs waste list spots all the time for all sorts of reasons.
He can't be on a large salary, would like Collingwood to have a punt, he will have ample opportunity too.
Maybe a future 2nd (probably 19-22 range) for Constable, Kreuger and a few late/unused picks?
Tbh constable is probably better than whoever is available in the second round.I reckon Geelong would take that happily.
Number 1 rule of trading is you don't give up quality assets for a combination of ordinary ones. Unless it's an academy type situation. There's other ways to get Kreuger and Constable has no value. He can't be on a large salary, would like Collingwood to have a punt, he will have ample opportunity too.

He has never really shown any aptitude for that, centre bounce and clearance work is his biggest (and only strength).
Good points. I'm probably just on the negative side of Nic Nat's low usage so I can't say that and then be all too keen on Constable. Slow, inflexible big bodied mids who don't pressure haven't had a good few years so I'm not on that side either. I remember when Constable dropped in the draft and people were surprised, I wasn't. But for the same reasons the Cats ended up taking him - in that he does have a natural ball winning ability - is probably the reason I'd take a punt if I had the list spots. Certainly before the list cut downs I would've been keen. And if a team happens to have extra spots with long term injuries or things like that and the ability to add extra rookies then I'd look at him.West Coast basically do it with Nic Nat but in my (probably unpopular) opinion they're worse off for it.
I wonder what Dane Swan's TOG was in his prime, Collingwood used to rotate him very aggressively but you couldn't do it with the interchange caps today. And of course those players are way more influential than Constable. It might be a better option for a good team than playing their current second reserve midfielder or whatever though, but with limited list spots teams will probably prefer to get a kid in the door.
Just finished responding to the Jordan Clark deal suggestions being thrown out there.
Here's another gem.
HE IS WORTH NOTHING - everyone, all of YOU listening out there. I'll say it quietly now: THE CATS NEVER PLAYED HIM, FORGET ALL THE CHRIS SCOTT RUBBISH ABOUT EARNING THEIR STRIPES IN THE VFL - MIERS AND PARFITT DIDN'T AND THEY ARENT MUCH CHOP EITHER.
Constable is no better than a good, maybe even great VFL player.
