It is not even close to the third best midfield. Seriously.
Our midfield is a lot better with the additions of Cerra and Hewett. Still nowhere near top 3 in the AFL, perhaps you should dispense with the wild speculation?

I Agree even with the additions we are not a top 3 midfield. However, I am quietly optimistic that there will a vast improvement in output and accountability.

In fairness to Fev he did say “if Cripps can return to his best”. In my book that would give us 2 of the top 10 midfielders in the comp.

Cripps literally won an AFLPA Trophy at his best and Walsh just polled 30 votes - I’m not going to argue any further but clearly you don’t rate Cripps (you don’t back out captain in to turn it around) or Cerra if you don’t think we have a great midfield now.

All I will say is let’s revisit this at round 5 and see how the midfield group is travelling. No point arguing about speculation.
I don’t want to sound like a negative nelly, but I’m of the opinion that Cripps’ limitations have been exposed. He is still the strong clearance machine, but breaking away from packs and taking on the tackler are no longer an option for him.

This is not going to be a popular opinion, but I think unless he works hard on his kicking, he is going to be very limited, even going forward. It might be worth sacrificing his clearance work and trialing him as a mobile ruckman while TDK is injured, so he can make use of his strength and size a lot more.

Everyone forgets he played the first 8-10 weeks with a broken back.

Got the big SANFL gf today, Glenelg (you can spell it forwards & backwards!!!) v Woodville West Torrens.👍😎👍

Waaaaaay too much yellow for my liking, but seeing as I hate Richmond/Glenelg/Mitcham/Nightcliff colours going the Eagles.

Troy Menzel to slot 6.

Will be in the Committee Room enjoying a fine palate of West End swill & glorious conversation as the onfield activities ensue.

Masks obligatory, sobriety frowned upon.🤪

More to come....

I don’t have faith that’ll he’ll get back to what he was but it’s worth a read of people’s opinions on Wines last year.

As the original poster said, IF Cripps gets back to his best form then we probably do have one of the best midfields in the league simply on the back of having two top 5-6 mids in the league in there. Hewitt and Cerra balance it off perfectly. If Cripps doesn’t then we still have a long way to go.

Sorry to say but Wayne Harmes was full on attack, even when he played in the back pocket, he was flat out attacking. Hewett is more your accountable for his man first and foremost and constructive after that.
Add also that Harmsey could intercept mark like a 3rd tall, burst play in the centre and play forward....I still say 2nd best backpocket I have seen behind wanganeen

Time will tell.

Crippa getting back to somewhere near his 2019 is a big part of the puzzle.

And one of the kids will surely emerge - be that Stocker, Dow, Kemp, Philp....

We’ll have the luxury to allow Ed Curnow mentor our youngsters too.
He’ll be a great role model of professionalism and hard work.
Mate no offence, but none of our older players are great role models of anything. Our culture was ****ed. It started from the head and trickled down.
We need a complete culture reset and i'm glad to say it looks like it's happening

I’ve heard nothing unfortunately. Really hoping for a tactician.

Really hoping.

A lot.
I guess I really only know of Jennings in terms of specialist who is not tied to a club.
I wonder if his exit from Melbourne has tarnished him such that we'd go without rather than take him on, or are there others out there we'd prefer?
Or maybe Jennings has options.

Yeah but at the death a lot of the rumours were about Liddle in a derogatory way. And a lot were wrong.

Fairly clear that at least those were not initiated by Liddle.

Nah, they were made up…

I’m very confident the real ITK’s like B70 were not getting their rumours from Liddle, so I’d say the rumours stopping have absolutely zero to do with Liddle and more to do with Sayers doing what he said he was going to do.

And I’m also very confident Sayers was putting some fishing lines out to catch the rumour mongers and now they’re shit scared to do so

Awfully quiet here than recent years. Eve of trade period. Hopefully Cerra deal doesn’t go down to the wire.
I feel as though it’s a much quieter trade season in general especially from the drama of last season. Cerra, Dawson and Hewitt being the biggest names so far. Be interesting if any trade requests start filtering through over the next couple of days.

Definition of 'someone has had their day'

someone has had their day

said to mean that the period during which someone was most successful has now passed
The punters believe the 34-year-old has had his day as far as international football is concerned.

From the Oxford Dictionary.
Again.. my belief has nothing to do with SOS's age.
You're welcome.
As someone else has already pointed out, that is obviously referring to a player who's "had his day" due to his age. Thanks for the confirmation.

I've seen your later clarification, so I'm struggling to understand what was so hard about saying "yeah, it was a poor choice of words, what I meant was that SOS has had his day at CFC due to the forces arrayed against him", or some such ...

Jesus.

My job revolves around analytics and numbers and for some reason I struggle with the 9 times table but not other things way more complex. Suppose I should resign tomorrow? Knock SOS all you like for things you think he didn't do well, but give me a break on this bs.

it was always 7s for me… lol.

The addition of Cerra would mean we have 3 players above B rating in our midfield. That's not enough. Have hopes for Kennedy on the back of his second half to the year and hoping Dow develops the mental strength to stay in the game longer, i don't believe it is a fitness issue for him.
