Lol seriously can we just have a ban on posting things ol clickbait Kornes says…

none of it is interesting and it’s all designed to just stir people up.

Hodgey wants a new rule! Hodgey gets a new rule.

No more clickbait shit from Cornes in here.

Also:
Can we also threadban Rendell quotes. The bloke is senile.
Done ✔️

I'd say that says more about our lack of desire to get McPherson. If we wanted him that badly we would get him but obviously we don't
The player wouldn't be relevant really though, our reason for doing it would be the better draft pick/s

Plus, McPherson would probably play games for us

When he starts asking for a contract extension to come back to Melbourne (which is what he put to North), then its probably reasonable we didn't go down that path... One year, no problem, two years, maybe, three years..Probably a bad investment.

Players are not commodities. Its not a stock to buy and sell at your leisure. Every player on the list is part of our plan to succeed. If they are no longer of value and they get superseded they get delisted or traded.

I am not sold on Brander (I know some of you are).
Looks like he will be delisted.

Tom Morris reports...

Jarrod Brander has attracted interest from multiple clubs, but West Coast will not be brokering a trade for him.

Brander is now all but certain to be cut loose as a delisted free agent, opening the door for 17 clubs to get him for nothing.

Brander would prefer to play as a third marking forward, but has spent most of the last two seasons on the wing for West Coast.

As first reported by Foxfooty.com.au, Carlton expressed interest in him, but Lewis Young was their priority.

There is still a chance the Blues could offer him a lifeline, maybe even as a rookie.

What better draft picks though? We were never going to move up to their pick in the first round purely by providing them salary cap space.

People were suggesting McPherson and pick 3 for our pick 5. That makes very little sense from a GC perspective. I wouldn't do it at Hawthorn if the roles were reversed.

Just chatting with one of our players. He was certain none of the big names were (want to) leaving. It would take a great offer and some sweet talking for one of those guys to move on.
Is it because they believe in the direction of the club or because they’re aren’t any better offers out there

I wouldn't either but I guess it would depend on how desperate they are for that cap relief

List spots are too valuable. Brander is going to be behind a number of lads for a run on the G.

He's stagnated as a player since he was 16, but if Mitchell and co see some value it's worth a punt.

See I think the biggest part of the success under Clarkson was an extremely talented playing group with starts on every line.

Having lived here in the US the last 20 years, I hope like hell Australians don't sell out what makes their sports special.
Otherwise, you end up with laughable results as a supporter where lone gun stars travel through teams looking for the most money and assembling super teams, only to bundle off again at the first sign of difficulty.
I love the GS Warriors, but could hardly give a fig over the chips they won with Durant. He's such an ass.

jeez, pick 13 for a 30 year old Breust...

Breust could kick 50 goals in the right team next season. If you think you're in with a chance of winning over the next few years, Breust is well worth it.

I don't get this. The players are asked to move when they come through the draft when their wages theoretically are at their lowest. Why can't they be asked to move when they're getting paid through the life of their contract. I'm pretty sure even minimum wage players can comfortably afford an average rental in every city in Australia. If necessary, give them a relocation payment that is payable by the club that takes them on. The contract is their security, the contract should be movable.

I'm thinking you don't have a wife or kids. Or care if your parents/family is around to support them or you as you build a life.
Or think that spending dough on rent isn't lost money, when you realistically at best have 10 years earning in the sport to try and set up.
Or that your mates and best friends are important, maybe just as important as playing the game.
Or that you can get shipped to an absolute dumpster of a team with no chance of winning, perhaps in your window of playing.

Seriously, it's like you think it's a video game and the players just out there for your benefit.
Hard to believe this I know, but they play for themselves, their families, their teammates, and their own desires and dreams before giving a shit if you as a suppporter can be satiated by treating them as a piece on a monopoly board.
