Yes, that's something we have considered.

Once we have children the animal would have to take a backseat because the child will need all our attention.

The solution is encouraging more people to have children at a younger age. That's exactly what Japan is doing right now. How exactly that is done I'm not sure but if the typical Aussie family is a coupe in their mid 30s with 1 or 2 kids max we'll be in trouble in 30 to 40 years time for sure.


I suggest reading up on the troubles they hare having in Japan atm due to low birth rates and a focus on career over family.

Japanese are a very different culture though

Also heard somewhere that many simply aren't too fussed with a lack of sex in their lives, so prefer the career/individual/single kinda lifestyle

Why encourage people to have kids younger when they can't even afford to buy a house to live in with said kids?

This, totally irresponsible, first and foremost financially, but secondly the likelihood of family/marital problems stemming from financial hardship

*this coming from the eldest child of battlers who had seperated when I was in grade 6 and divorced by year 8, also one pair of grandparents were done after only 10 or so years too. If I have kids, I do not want similar family outcomes.

We bought our first place in 2016 (Mrs was only 22), I proposed in 2017, got married 2019 and bought our land in 2019 too.

There's six years between us, but yeah still very good for someone of her age to achieve what she has.

Nice mate, hopefully you guys make some breakthroughs on the IVF. Took my exs sister about 2 years for a breakthrough there, it may unfortunately be a long haul, so don't lose the faith it it doesn't happen quickly.

October 26 lockdown ends but we are limited to 25k travel radius. Hospo reopens in limited numbers etc. Mid November I believe is when we hit 80% full vaccination and restrictions end.

Once the 25km radius goes and we can visit households again that's when I consider lockdown over

Correct me if I’m wrong here. So if you buy a house for $1m, the government will lend you $250k. If it appreciates by 50% and you sell it for $1.5m, then you have to pay the government back $375k (25% of $1.5m). So of your $500k capital growth, you only get to pocket $125k, and a chunk of that will go towards stamp duty for your next property anyway.

My 1 year old daughter and 8 year old lab are best friends. Maybe it depends on the pet and the breed. My poor dog absolutely cops it but is so gentle with her.

Probably regards her as a little sister, have seen plenty of videos on YouTube from channels like The Dodo where they'll show footage of dogs looking after, if not protecting infants/toddlers of their owners etc

My brothers oldest dog just turned 7, he's a great energetic happy dog, but a jealous bugger though. Brother has 2 kids, born start of 2017 and mid 2019, so I observed last year in between lockdowns when I visited them, the dog was sitting on the couch with me, my niece who was 3 at the time jumped up with us and tried patting the dog, dog started shrugging her off and flinching away from her every time she tried patting him, though whenever I or whoever else pats him, he loves it, then wants to play fetch after a minute or 2.

He'd never harm them, but he cold shoulders them alot, have seen a few photos of him with the kids since and he'd stand next to them, but look away everytime they'd pat him. Perhaps he'll warm up to them in his old age once they play fetch with him more or something. Brothers other dog is a bit over 4 and a half, same breed, she's about 6-7 weeks younger than my niece so has grown up alongside my niece, absolutely loves the kids but.

Dog’s are great. They make you do stuff for them that will seem nuts to non-Pet owners but something you will do without hesitation. Over the last 2 and a half years my family and I have probably spent $15,000 on our Dog getting him better. It all started with getting Anemia in 2019 and between the animal hospital and all the medication it was thousands of dollars spent and we never thought twice or complained about the money. Last December he had suffered an auto-immune disease and that was a much longer process, in fact his last vet visit to check his platelets was yesterday. He is off all of his medication and now he will have a check up in 6 months rather than every 3-4 week which it has been for the last 10 months.

My family will think twice about a $500 purchase but for our Dog, he is a member of the family. I would recommend any family own one.

The boss is only 27 so it's good she (we) has time on her side. And in a way, the issues are with me more than her, so it could be a lot worse. The specialist was very confident we would not have issues.
