Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Sonsie, Sinn, Goater, Johnson will be gone by 16, maybe even before 12. Roberts Draper will probably still be there at 16 and higher, so 12 does open up some more possibilities.Plenty of names being thrown around that seem like they would have been there at 16.... so pick 12 is interesting. Would we have ended up with the same player at either pick?

He’s a talent but we have plenty of flankersWhat are the thoughts on Luke Beeken 19 year old who was impressive in the snafl with WWT this year? Speculative late pick maybe!
So what. You need insurance. We don't need another sexy little flakey flanker. They are just as much list cloggers.Any ruck drafted this year will be a list clogger.

Especially after he struggled to run a couple of laps at his first training session.WCE Eagles fans probably said the same when they took Dean Cox on the rookie list.
My preference would be:
1. Goater - I dont really see a clear weakness in his game and he probably suits the modern prototype midfielder really well. Tall, very agile and like you said, explodes out of packs with ease. Unfortunately, I dont expect him to be available at our pick.
2. Sonsie - You are right! He was a top 5 pick and closest to JHF this time last year but injuries and Victoria's COVID situation has made him slide down. Another inside midfielder that can kick goals from midfielder which is exactly what we need currently.
3. Wanganeen-Milera - We probably have a fair few wingers on the list in Amon, Duursma, Bonner and Bergman. But I'd like to see Bergman spend time in the centre this year and NWM could be the key that releases Bergman into midfield. In terms of NWM himself, best kick in this draft, knows his way out of a congested situation and puts the ball on a platter. Georgiades wouldnt mind it!
4. Draper - Has some serious x-factor up forward but his midfield acts are in question. He has the height to go into midfield and provide a point of difference but his career coming to fruition will depend on how he develops that body of his to suit the modern game.
Rachele and Sinn probably wont be on our radar because of our depth in those positions. Johnson, while he reminds me of Pendlebury with his clearance work and kicking, has a couple of obvious weaknesses. Van Rooyen probably too early for pick 12.
Any highlights of Goater, seems a favourite for many , but has little exposed form, bit of a late season mover. Seems everyone is basing it on his athletic test profile which was exceptional.
We will use Pick 12 on a reach for a speculative ruck. Please use Pick 12 on a mid not a forward defender or flanker
Realistically there’s no draft prospect ruck that would come close to getting a game for us if both lycett and Hayes went downSo what. You need insurance. We don't need another sexy little flakey flanker. They are just as much list cloggers.
Seems to have moved down into that 10 range as season has gone on, bit like the Bont did, reckon early season predicts had him around 16-18 mark. He's been on the verge of top 10 since his big start to the season.

So you have seen every single ruckman around Oz, in all leagues play every single minute of 2020 and 2021 and your conclusion is there is nobody out there worth having as insurance for a year or two. I call that BS.Realistically there’s no draft prospect ruck that would come close to getting a game for us if both lycett and Hayes went down
they would just play finlayson / Alir / Dixon / Marshall over an 18yr old.
All the young-ish developing rucks got picked off in the mid season draft.
There’s only the option to add a guy like knoll or lol , Jarrad redden as insurance and I still doubt we play them even if half our backup rucks were injured.
it’s sh*t, but it is what it is.
next years draft is stacked with rucks. We just have to pray.
Yea I'm not sure why people go away from this philosophy it's not like we don't list & dice flankers & mids that never make it, it's not list clogging at all just pick up and cut you'll eventually get some decent service from a few even if it's just more beneficial for the magoos. So you have seen every single ruckman around Oz, in all leagues play every single minute of 2020 and 2021 and your conclusion is there is nobody out there worth having as insurance for a year or two. That insurance isn't about playing a whole season in the A grade. its out plugging gap for maybe up to a handful of games. Its about having a decent ruck in the magpies for our young mids to continue their development, its also about practice. You play as you practice, so if you have a variety of rucks rather than 2 blokes always competing against each other, you have better practice sessions.
If we have 17 major injuries again this year there is no guarantee who does and doesn't get injured. Should always have 4 rucks on the list in a squad off 40+.
A kid worth trying to develop is the absolute minimum we have to add to the list this year and we can add a state league guy next year if need be, but why not do so he can train with the squad for a longer period?

Jarred Redden. Get him fit, could be anything. There are very few decent rucks around, even at state league. Its why spuds like Keegan Brooksby keep getting drafted
This lad from W-WT comes from the same place as Lachie Jones. Was in the U19 state development squad this year.
Jonte Hunter-Price (197cm and 90kg) -Boasts a big, strong body. Enjoys the competitive side of the game. Plays mostly ruck and key forward. Has an elite running jump which allows him to launch high and hard into aerial contests. Working on winning more of the footy when playing ruck.
