You dont need to be inside the pocket for roughing calls.

HCs are so dumb. They go for it on 4th down early in the game when no need to, and dont go for it later in game when thwy should.... Not the last 4 min type when game already gone but like 10 down, 4th and 3 from the opponents 40 with 7 mins left

as long as you are in a position to pass you are protected. i think you lose the 1 step rule but others still protect QB's as long as they are still in a passing stance. ball tucked to run and it wont be called.

I didn't know that. Cam Newton can feel hard done by on multiple occasions.

They are not as strict. late hit no longer has the 1 step rule outside the pocket. and often let the 2nd step go. but you have to be in a stance to pass. if the ball is tucked they will call you a runner.

also some QB's like Cam didnt get the calls when inside the pocket.
