I dont mind doing a 2nd team if you need it but only if we dont have enough people i dont want to stop people getting a go.

Yep that's the plan I reckon :) Hopefully get down to a few left like Pies, Dogs, GC etc. who have very few picks, and then just assign those to a few of us

Vdubs, have given you Essendon, as they have one decent early pick and a few later ones that should come in after bids - bit more fun than Carlton :)

Rightio, so in order of best to worst we have these 7 clubs left:

Melbourne, Saints, Gold Coast, Port, Carlton, Collingwood/Dogs

Starting draft at 6pm tonight 25/10 - all picks will be in OP and will be edited each time a new pick is made. Also, all picks will be provided next to the user's name, for ease of use/clarity during the draft.

Bids will be allowed, but no trades, as it gets way too complex and leads to consternation when people don't get what they want - simpler and more easy-going this way.

Lastly, picks will be treated as if you have unlimited list spots, so don't get too hung up on trying to figure out if your particular club has enough spots left - as it's just for fun 🥳

Any questions, comment on here or send me a PM. Looking forward to seeing you all in here tonight :)

Happy drafting!

So just to confirm can bids on academy players be matched or are they all in the open draft (if you pick them they are yours)? Great job setting this up btw.

For example GWS bid on Darcy ? Dogs match and get him ...Are you just giving them Darcy at that bid or will you adjust with points.

So basically, after much thought, I think the best idea is to remove the Dogs and Pies from the draft entirely. They'll have a bid or two at the end of the draft, but largely, they'll be superfluous in a mock draft.

So essentially, once North has inevitably called out JHF (barring some last minute trade change in the next 2-3 hours), I'll add Darcy in at 2, Daicos in at 3 (as per GWS manager comments and likely bids), and then the open draft will start from pick 4.

Bids on all other players will be allowed - like Owens, Windhager, Motlop (after Pick 40), Woewodin, Burgoyne etc. -, and I'll calculate those once they come through a and advise what picks are left.

Will be setting up in the next couple of hours, so everyone will have an idea of what it looks like.

People are welcome to just select their pick if they don't know enough about the player, or they can provide a summary as to why they've picked that player. I'll be providing some draft info from draft central and some phantom drafts, to help those who might not be as familiar.

Hope that clears everything up for anyone wondering about bids, and we'll get underway within the next few hours :)

P.S cheers PO for the kudos - it's my pleasure doing it

Leaves us with Melbourne, Saints, Carlton and Port as the remaining clubs of interest. GC only has one pick, so it'll be pretty boring, and one that I can probably handle. Will assign the remaining 4 if we don't have any suitors by the time we start :)

EDIT: Only Saints, Carlton and Port left!

That makes sense..in the real thing i suspect darcy and daicos go at 2 which wipes out coll and dogs hands..i agree with your idea to just give those 2 clubs 2 or 3 picks each at the very end of the draft (say 70s) to fill their lists as thats probably what will happen in the real thing.

I just wanted to know whether guys like owens fahey benning motlop etc can be matched if i bid on them but youve clarified that so all good.

*Also please note, that in the case of Academy bidding, any player bid on inside the first round (i.e. Owens) cannot be matched by their respective club (St Kilda). Jesse Motlop is also a special case, wherein if he gets bid on before Pick 40, due to zoning, he can't be matched by Fremantle either

Without further adieu, let's get underway!

year of the cat it'll be your pick first (I think we have a good idea who you might pick :p ) then we can get into it from there :)

“North Melbourne select player 50423 Jason Horne-Francis”

Collective shock in the room….

This kid in all seriousness is special and looks to be the marquee player that Nth have been after. Kids might even change teams to have his number on their backs when they see him play. A Dangerfield-like player - he can impact a game single handedly. Can’t wait to see him play from round one in 2022.

So much agreement with this, and can't wait to see the kid play. Always good when it's at a lower placed side too, as it brings excitement and invigoration, rather than just more of the same for the best teams

GWS select Finn Callaghan,
I don't need to say why, with no pick trading to maybe do 2 for 6,8 this is clearly the best option according to most experts, with Toby Greene suspended I expect he plays round 1.

Next up Shadow89
