Such an interesting choice (think he'll go a little later), and such a good explanation - noice!

89 ... I think so you will be getting some players with academy ties... just a heads up Freo and Stk have a couple id probably match , depending on the pick number (if thats the way we are playing this..)

I guess in the end we will see. How much will it cost to get McDonald from Syd or even Neale from geelong in 12 months. Both OOC 2022... all this comes into the real selections and planning imo.

No doubt every single call in any phantom is not real..as we do not have all the information that the clubs do..we can only go by info we have... data released, others opinions and vision we have seen... which is limited. And to some degree it will be interesting comparing what we come up with..but id say its a moving template... Its a month away and the draft is only a snapshot at that point in time...a week later or earlier and who knows. Even with CalT knowledge he only puts out his phantom within a day or two of it..

Read afl today and both WA clubs interested in Goater , who I considered, his position is probably coming in. Just read edps latest and he has amiss sliding to the back end of the top20.

What this indicates to me is we will see ample examples of the typical response from clubs post 2021 draft. "Blah, blah, very happy we rated him so much better.. we got Ojay Maclacker at 19 and we had him top10 etc... every club walks away smiling.

Now all said with limited knowledge...To me Amiss is very much a convertor. He marks well on a lead, good over head but lacks spring. Denied the lead in a more congest forwardline, as a lot of lower level forward find..how does he go? Less chance to have a shot at goal? Im not sure..so I go another way. Its easy to do in this here...all fun and no consequences.. but it does demonstrate just how hard it is in a real situation to break from the known order..according to draft insiders zeitgeist atpit. (Having said that Freo may go local with both picks, it would make sense to some degree. Erasmus and Johnson for eg.)

I tell you what I have rarely seen a more talented prospect than that boy Ojay Mac. Kids a ****ing star

That makes it interesting...

One of the more bullshit things that the AFL have done in recent times, but yes, NGA's like Mac Andrew or Mitch Owens cannot be bid on in the first round. Northern prospects like Fahey, can.

Cameron_Jezza if you choose to match, it'll cost you 711 points (948 with a 20% discount) - that's pretty much exactly 46, 47 and 62 - which ends your draft experience

You matching?

and he is on the clock ..... get out the pancakes..

Edit ... nice job 89

Was close to doing this with the previous pick, around about the range I expect him to go.

I almost bid on him too but i couldnt risk a pass and not getting ward. I would have bid at #28 for sure but this is about his range.

No club can match nga players in the first round this year... so cant match. ... academy ? mm

All players can be bid on in any round.
But southern state nga players who are bid inside 20 (eg andrew) their team cant match whereas northern academy teams can match.
Southern academies can match any bid from p20 except motlop (different rule for metro and regional) who can only be matched after p40.

Pick 20
Melbourne
Tom Brown

When selecting for the reigning premier, obviously they have most areas covered. With enough ball winning mids I went for a guy that may have something a little different with some run and evasiveness from half back and potentially further up the ground as he matures physically.

Still cannot believe you got both Hobbs and Ward. For all the crap some Richmond nuffies like to pile on us, they would love our draft right about now :tearsofjoy:

At pick 21 Brisbane selects Sam Butler

POSITION: Medium Forward/Midfielder 184cm 73kg

SNAPSHOT: “A clean and clever utility who can play through the midfield or up forward, Butler is damaging around goals with some elite acceleration, and the defensive traits to match his offensive output.”

Sam Butler is a midfielder/forward out of the Greater Western Victoria (GWV) Rebels and the brother of St Kilda forward, Dan. The crafty talent is really impressive both ways, able to win the ball offensively, and also defensively, to be the complete package from that sense. Gifted with blistering acceleration, the areas of improvement include backing himself to take the game on more – not just giving off the quick handball – and gaining greater consistency by foot going forward.

Turbocat you're up

I tossed up between Brown and Butler at the previous pick.

Pick22.
Josh Goater (Calder Cannons)
190cm midfielder/defender

Big-bodied midfielder that should suit the high intesity Melb game style most will be trying imitate. Weakness is probably kicking but can sprint out of the stoppages and use his leap to advantage anywhere around the ground to be a link mid. While he is still considered a raw prospect, probably a touch of boom or bust but has been linked to WA , has some family in WA and possibly top10 value.

Think he will be a really good player hope he gets to the cats.
