Why would it mean 50 less weak players? You keep using this notion that there's a 'player pool' like the AFL with a limited amount of quality players.

You also ignore the fact that Norwich would still be in the league if only 18 teams, and Brentford wouldn't.
Fair point on the pool. But four less games so takes away midweek games. One round of EPL a week. There’s already a third euro and CL will increase so less matches makes sense..hopefully less matches to rest for better players. That’s still plenty of football.

Aren't there only 2-3 mid-week games and one of those is because of the FA Cup?

You could easily bring in a mid-season break by removing International Breaks and instead having mini-qualification competitions at the end of the season instead.

It's a silly notion that doesn't solve anything. As I said before, the CL and other comps expanding are the issue, the league should be the focal point.

It's a pointless subject as the PL will never go from 38 to 34 games because $$$$

The end.

I just wish (for variety's sake) that yoyo clubs like Norwich and to a lesser extent West Brom, are not allowed to return to the Premier League for say just a period of one or two full
Season's if they get relegated from the EPL more than 3 times in one decade.

Might give their tightwad owners a reason to chip in and invest in a club capable of an extended stint in the top flight, instead of constantly going up and down.

Precisely the attitude that has infested football and made it worse. So many clubs in lower divisions see owners with reckless spending gambling on promotion and making their clubs worse off, as much as Norwich are a yo-yo club they behave responsibly and should be applauded for that, not shunned.

Better quality product and less quantity (supply) …demand will go up and ka-ching!
Its an interesting topic and does have some merit. Same goes with the afl season. It would be a better overall product with 17 games rather than 22 but broadcasters would take some convincing. The NFL model of less is more doesn't seem to work anywhere else.

Everton look dreadful. It's like they don't want to touch the ball.

27% possession. 4 shots on target, 8 shots in total to 1 shot off target. Rafa has set us up to counter attack and Wolves know that so they sit deep in possession. Our defence is so anemic that they don't need to push the back 3 up.
