Was talking to some people today who were very bullish about a guy called Charlie Dean, he had a terrible combine and went to Williamstown where he blitzed, apparently… anyone know anything about him?

Lol…I havent heard about your son Mrs Dean…do you have any footage?![]()
Many would say 7 is too early to take Sinn, however, if Callaghan , Ward and Hobbs are gone I think Sinn is as good as any of the other midfielders mentioned. I’ve seen him in a couple of school games plus one TAC and he’s a player who can outrun just about anyone. He holds the Xavier college sprint record, he’s A 50m+ kick and I think if he lasts to our second pick would be an absolute steal. If we can’t get one of the three I mentioned earlier, yes I’d take him with our first.7 too early?
Missed 10 weeks early this year with a hamstring. 18yo speedsters who do serious, early hammys is a red flag imo. Many would say 7 is too early to take Sinn, however, if Callaghan , Ward and Hobbs are gone I think Sinn is as good as any of the other midfielders mentioned. Agree. It is a concern and I’m sure the club will take it into account. On talent I actually rate Sinn higher than all early picks after Callaghan and Ward. There are no doubt safer picks in this draft.Missed 10 weeks early this year with a hamstring. 18yo speedsters who do serious, early hammys is a red flag imo.
Sinn, from what I have read would be a steal at 15, he was rated top 3 at the start of season. With lack of footy this season, might be a very smart pick up for whoever gets himAgree. Charlie Dean won the Round/Fothergill for best young player (u21) in the VFL I believe. Tall forward. Late or rookie pick.
7 - best availableFellas, just interested in hearing your opinions regarding draft targets - I'm doing a mock draft on our board and I'm representing Richmond.
What are areas of need? I'm assuming midfield is a key area to address.

Nothing about the 'depth' midfielders illustrates that we should not be taking 3+ mids from our picks and best available for the rest. Ross has been a bit part player, RCD has not shown signs he can be better than a B grade workhorse, Dow and Martyn too early to tell but one is a worry with disposal and the other looked significantly off the pace in his debut. Those 'depth' players are not going to sustain a level that Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards et al were able to achieve. That is why it is critical to bring in quality kids now to give them a year of protection and development. After compiling our best 22 with a depth chart
I can see why many on here are questioning going inside mids and whether they’re different then what we have
Team
Grimes Tarrant Short
Vlastuin Balta Rioli
Mcintosh Martin Edwards
Lambert Lynch Castagna
Bolton Riewoldt Stack
Soldo Cotch Prestia
Graham Broad Baker Soldo
depth
Defenders Miller Biggy Mansell
mids RCD Ross Dow Martyn
Wings/Hybrid small/medium forwards Pickett Caddy Ralphsmith Aarts Parker Cumberland Rioli jnr
Rucks Ryan Colina
Tall forwards- Zilch
Can see us targeting a general defender in Wilmot or T Brown if available in the 20’s or hooefulky
What do you guys think we’ll do putting your draft hats on with this list? Does it change wanting Hobbs to a degree having decent inside depth? Or is it important to target the replacements for Cotch and Titch and Jack now. Must say the 22 looks magnificent having Soldo back to help around the clearances which was a major issue hit outs wise. We’ll be much better around the ball with him back in next year and with Dusty spending more time in there imo.
What do we actually need most? I’m kind of put off getting Rachelle with the mix of general forwards and depth we have. It’s important we keep next years first round pick when it looks like the kpp’s will be much stronger.

WHY is football using WIRED GATES. Animals run into WIRED GATES. The AFL is RUINING the ENVIRONMENT. It is sick. In 50 years this planet will be RUINED because of issues like this. #BanFootball

Defender. Solid one too. Seems ready to go. Would like with a later selection (if we somehow have one)
Nicely put together. I agree and that's why I think the club should pull out all stops and trade up to get Callaghan or Ward. We have champions that are going to need replacing and these types usually come early in drafts.Nothing about the 'depth' midfielders illustrates that we should not be taking 3+ mids from our picks and best available for the rest. Soldo won't solve our clearance issues. Having a more competitive ruck helps, but even in the games Nankervis played, it is the blokes listed as 'depth' that largely started and gave up huge clearance differentials along with some of the older brigade being unable to get back to previous standards.
In my opinion the best developing mids we have for the 3+ year horizon are Baker and Bolton. I am not sure either is going to be capable of playing full games there without rotating onto a flank which means the side needs blokes that can get first use of the pill and deliver it.
While arguably the side needs to turn its mind to key forwards and backs, Lynch still has plenty of footy left in him, Balta is a 10 year lock and it is not as much of a pressing need to remain competitive in the now. Sides have also shown that you can be competitive for a flag with a great midfield and average KPP stocks (see Dogs defenders and forwards bar Naughton, Collingwood was hugely competitive for the 2018-20 period with no forward line, we won 2017 with a fleet of smalls etc).
On the one hand I agree with basically all of what you are saying, but I do remember that players can also turn a corner, so I wanna stay optimistic. Edwards was borderline spud for a good chunk of his early years and turned into an absolute star that got even better in our premiership seasons. So it can turn around. Ross, RCD and Dow have shown enough to say they could be players if persevered with.Nothing about the 'depth' midfielders illustrates that we should not be taking 3+ mids from our picks and best available for the rest.
