RCD was considered a slider.
Lol RCD as a "shock" pick.I don't like it when we pick 'surprize' players that shock everyone else. Oakleigh-Nicholas, Conca and even RCD all raised eyebrows from other club recruiters in the past when they were taken early by us but not when they underwhelmed everyone as the years went on. RCD still might prove to be an astute pick but no more surprize early picks please...they make me nervous.

Dow was probably more of a reach, I can’t remember many phantom drafts having him that early.Lol RCD as a "shock" pick.
God I loved that. That prick went up and gave lip to Lynch big time in the first quarter and then proceeded to poo his dacks unopposed going for a mark
Will be gob smacked if Callaghan is still available at our pick. There is a reason why a few teams before us are trying to trade up to GWS pick and that is mostly because they want Callaghan. Can see Adelaide going for Rachele at 4 (6).
GWS going with Andrew, Gold Coast Gibcus, Freo Erasmus. Leaves Hawks as a question mark. Sounding like they have Ward high on their list.
Looking very likely two of Hobbs, ward or Callaghan will be there at 7.
These 2 are impossible to get at those picks as the Saints will just match the bid.7. Hobbs Ward Sonsie
17. Sonsie Sinn Chesser
26-28. 3 of Bazzo Williams Roberts Macdonald Taylor Sheldrick Owens Windhager
I’m not sure the Saints will match both though will they? These 2 are impossible to get at those picks as the Saints will just match the bid.
Agree with the majority though... Also think Zac Taylor is in the discussions for pick 17... can't see him getting passed Hawthorn in the early 20's.
No I’ll come in here and admit I was a poor judge if RCD turns out to be a good player.
Correct, GWS, were into him. I just found this article and grabbed a snippet.
"Collier-Dawkins is attending the draft on Thursday at Marvel Stadium and is set to be a first-round selection, with Greater Western Sydney, Geelong and Richmond among the teams in the running to pick him".
Cal Twomey had RCD going to GWS at 13

Yeah, RCD was generally seen as going around 12+. That we got him is a slide. Not a huge slide, but a drop from expectations.
We took him around the top of where he was projected to go. So earlish, or top of his range. So far I can see why they picked hm. Some elite traits, and some flaws. But his inside ability, evasion and clever hands are enough to make a career out of. Hope he keeps developing and ends up at worst as a Shedda lite.
We didn’t get a lot of luck with that draft pick. There were some scenarios where a couple of talents slid to us but none of them went our way. That’s why I’m an advocate of trading up to get a wanted player rather just sitting back and ticking off names, particularly in the first round.

I'll happily come and admit I was a poor judge with regard to RCD if he turns out a regular good performer. Will all you advocates for RCD come on admit you miss judged what a bog average player he was if he fails?I'll hold you to that - if I remember and I have trouble remembering what day it, much les what happened last year.
We all know he has all the tools to be a jet, it’s just whether he can get that inner beast work ethic mode that all gun mids have to make it to thrive at the AFL levelI'll happily come and admit I was a poor judge with regard to RCD if he turns out a regular good performer. You didn’t answer the question? We all know he has all the tools to be a jet, it’s just whether he can get that inner beast work ethic mode that all gun mids have to make it to thrive at the AFL level
trading up is fine but at what cost
when you are giving away pick #7 plus another 1st rounder for an untried kid you better be bloody sure that kid is going to become a gun player otherwise yu end up going backwards. If you have a good talent identification department and in a draft like this year there will be many diamonds in the rough to be had.
I like our picks 26,27,28 and we should be able to find some real gems at that range from the vic kids this year
How long is a piece of string? You didn’t answer the question?
