Apparently Essendon still thinking they can get Rance out of retirement. They can gagf.
Is Hobbs a clear favorite to land at Tigers at pick 7 ? Are you guy confident he'll still be there at that pick ?If the talls next year aren't standouts at the beginning of the 1st round, I can't imagine they are substantially better than the handful available this year either.
I agree with you about best available with our first two picks, I don't care if they are mids or kpp, with 7 & 15 we just take the best player there and then use 26-28 on needs and list balance. If we end up with Gibcus & JVR with our first two, then maybe look at Bowes, Sheldrick & Long later on. If we end up with Erasmus/Hobbs/Johnson/Goater with our first two, then maybe look to include someone like Aleer in the 2nd round.
Reminds me of Scott McIvor .I like the look of Erasmus too, here's some info on him plus a highlights vid.
Draft profile: Neil Erasmus
A mercurial high-flyer that can have an impact in the midfield and in attack.
Team: Subiaco
Position: Midfielder/Forward
Height: 188cm
Weight: 80kg
Subiaco's Neil Erasmus is an agile midfield/forward prospect with plenty of upside to his game.
The West Australian hasn't had a deep sample size to offer scouts, however the glimpses he has shown with the Lions in the WAFL U18s competition have been enough to suggest a first-round calling for the 17-year-old.
An inside midfielder that has the ability to move forward and impact the scoreboard, Erasmus frames as one of the more versatile smaller options in his class that could be a key feature for an AFL club as early as next year.
An Eagles fan, Erasmus looks up to West Coast star Elliot Yeo as an idol of his game, which is a fitting role model given the similarities between the pair.

"The tall midfielder has steadily been rising up draft boards this season and now shapes as a top-10 pick contender. Something of a surprise packet in 2020, Erasmus has taken things up a notch in 2021." - Callum Twomey

Wondering if Hawks and Tigers look to trade early picks. Hawks 5 & 21, Tigers 7 & 15. Tigs move up and get better chance of nabbing Hobbs and still have a premium pick in the low 20's. Points wise it works out almost exactly the same. Do Tigers do this deal ? As a Hawk unless we're sold on Ward or Erasmus I'd do this deal.

Things have chopped and changed so much. There's been a lot of talk about depth areas that need to be addressed and where our best 22 could be upgraded.
A KPP is on the cards with one of our firsts.
Our preference is Gibcus at 9, but if he is gone, Amiss a chance. JVR at 17 likely if we go for a small with our first. (Rachele, Hobbs are the 2 most I am hearing outside of Gibcus and Amiss although Johnson, Sinn and Wanganeen-Milera have also been raised as possible options.)
17 is looking like JVR.
For our second rounders, Bazzo, Judson Clarke and Blake Howes have been mentioned. Ned Long a possible a shot here if we don't take all our picks as we still like him and rate him highly.

In some drafts this wouldn't be the case but maybe you're right with this particular draft. I think Tigers are well placed. Pick 3 to pick 7 seems to be in the eye of the beholder. If Tigers love either Hobbs or Erasmus 5+21 for 7 +15 might be on the cards but if Tigers are happy to choose from Gibcus (if GC don't take him), Sinn (slight reach), Andrew (if GC & GWS don't take him) or maybe Hobbs slides anyway..no deal
7 and 15 are worth more than 5 and 21.
True, but Sonsie is a reasonable chance to be available at 21(23). Looking at the draft order there will be a premium player at 21(23).Wouldnt do that deal, one of Hobbs, Gibcus, Johnson or Erasmus will fall to our pick 9. That pick 17 could also get us butler or sonsie, to name a few.
I think if the player we want is there and were certain hes going either that pick or the Freo pick thereafter then you'd absolutely look at that deal. Maybe with a swap of later picks to even it up but id imagine with our super strong draft hand we will be using picks to slightly move up to get the targets we want.Is Hobbs a clear favorite to land at Tigers at pick 7 ? Agree, we don't want to be picking a tall for the sake of picking a tall - if they turn out to be no good then they're not fixing our kpp problem! If there's a tall we really rate early go for it, otherwise best available - especially with early picksSeems like there are a lot of talls in next year's draft have been rated at the end of 1st round / start of second round. Could be like 2017 where CCJ, Allen, Balta, Taylor, DeKoening. McCartin and Petty all went in the 2nd round.
IMO should go best available with first 2 picks
9 Hobbs/Ward/Erasmus
17 Sinn/Goater/JVR
Then focus on needs in the 2nd round if available players are rated roughly the same
Yep, I see it exactly this way. Will be busy with live trading this year. Think we're all out of the running to get Callaghan so it becomes very even after that and becomes about who clubs value for their needs. I'm unsure if any of the available top tier talent are perfect fits for Hawks list needs so might make sense to move back...I think if the player we want is there and were certain hes going either that pick or the Freo pick thereafter then you'd absolutely look at that deal. Doubt it. You are taking Ward at your pick. Lock it in.Yep, I see it exactly this way. Will be busy with live trading this year. If Andrew drops are we interested?
Who is Ryan? Not from what I have heard. We rate Ryan highly internally.
I’d be okay with that.Is Hobbs a clear favorite to land at Tigers at pick 7 ? Are you guy confident he'll still be there at that pick ?

Is this a serious question or a troll?Who is Ryan?
Samson Ryan, the young ruckman we got from QLD last year. Played forward a lot in the vfl this season.Who is Ryan?
True, but Sonsie is a reasonable chance to be available at 21(23). Looking at the draft order there will be a premium player at 21(23).
Hope selma and patty don't know him
Not what we want then, we got 3-4 starting HB alreadyErasmus is quality...
Takes a good grab...reasonable kick of the ball...takes the game/oppo on...good positioning...strikes me as a distributor of the ball...quarterback...of HBF...
Brings his team mates into the game....
Not sure how he would go solely as a mid...chasing the hardball...

U mean the guy that got donuts during his first game? He is a mile off still and may never make it.
