This is not a Star Trek franchise.Voyagers?
No. It's Tasamania
This is not a Star Trek franchise.
That's OK. The NHL have the New Jersey Devils.Man U are the red Devils.
Lucky I wasnt referring to Star Trek then heyThis is not a Star Trek franchise.
Would it? Can a rivalry really be created out of nothing on something so shallow?
maybe the first rivalry’s will be against Hawthorn or North Melbourne for obvious reasons.
Maybe the closest to a derby would be against St.Kilda or Richmond. I read there are a lot of Saints and Tiger fans on the Apple Isle.
Apple Isle Pests?
They were a pest to the AFL about having their own team. And in the end the AFL lost and the pest spread to play all over Australia - ha ha
The Pests are coming!
- should strike fear in any opposition…
Ah well. That's that then. Lock the thread. Should we start a club theme song thread now?The Tassie Devils has an immediate identity.
Part of what makes Gold Coast a struggling franchise is that 'Suns' lacks any emotional connection.
Any footy fan in Australia would already have an idea that you are referencing Tasmania if you simply referred to them and 'The Devils'. That identity exists and the team doesn't even exist yet. Would be a ridiculous idea to even consider using any other nickname.
Ps. The logo already rules too. Wouldn't even need to be changed.
The Cannibals.
Ah well. That's that then. Lock the thread. Should we start a club theme song thread now?
The Tassie women's team could have a variation of Maneater by Hall & Oates. It would actually work quite well as they ran on to the ground "Ooh Oh, here she comes"Maybe call Tassie 'Fine young Cannibals'?
Theme Song, 'She Drives me Crazy'?
Cannibals? Really?
Voyagers?
Or Tassie Maps?
Devils is crap and looks/sounds/feels way too similar to Demons.
Tasmania United is a better name and has a meaning as it's the entire state (both cities) united behind one team, which is unique to AFL.
Lets be honest, 'United' is hardly a nick name. Sounds like a soccer club. Anyway Man U are called the Reds, Newcastle U are the Magpies. etc etc.
Devils/Demons. One is an iconic local animal, named by the first colonials after its horrible screech. The 'Devil' has had international fame via Disney. The Demon is 'a harmful spiritual entity'.
IMO its a no brainer.
How many clubs have really overused animal/bird nicknames with little attachment to their region? No one seems to think about that. At least kangaroos, Magpies Swans crows Devils are in Australia.
Or Tassie Maps?
Warner Bros. The 'Devil' has had international fame via Disney.
Warner Bros.
United as a moniker is thoroughly overrated and over-used.Devils is crap and looks/sounds/feels way too similar to Demons.
