Neither JVR or Bazzo are worth a first round pick. In a year where there are several quality talls they’d be lucky to be drafted. Why do people on this board keep raising their names? I know we have a need for talls, however, quality, not just because they’re tall. This is a midfielders draft. Both these kids, only 2 months ago were considered to be picks in the 30s to 40s. Now because there appears to be no other talls with exposed form they are elevated up the pecking order. JVR looks great in highlights but if you go and watch him in full games, you’ll notice when actually he was in a pressure situation he panicked and cooks his kicks, so badly they all grub along the ground. If we are to take one of the 2, I’d rather Bazzo but with our last pick.Five picks in top thirty, two in first round. May not happen again for a while. Don’t give up any of them. Great chance to get JVR and Bazzo and three quality mids. They are there. Set up the club for the next 10 years if all the cards fall in place. Can then use following drafts for specific targets or player trades. All these pick swaps, live trading crap just confuses the focus on getting the 5 best possible players in. Just get it done Tiges.
You are correct. 40 is his max.My one worry about amiss is he can’t kick very far going off the vision 40m max yet very accurate
We do need key position players I’d prefer jvr/Williams forward then 7 on amiss
Getting excited now though
The professional recruiters are saying how hard it is to assess kids this year coming off such little football so what hope do we amateurs have ??? Any opinions have very limited information to go on as kids can change so much over the last two years. The talent from this draft could look very different after some proper development and it will be interesting to look back again in three years time.Basing it on what I’ve seen it’s just my opinion if you prefer them over others that’s fine we all have different views

Glass half full/empty really. The players are still there, just will mean there will less certainty with the selections. With so little exposed form this season our draft hand isn’t the boon some of you think it is.

That works both ways though. Whilst you might be more likely to get a dud with a top 10 pick than usual, you're also more likely to get a star with a pick in the 20s.With so little exposed form this season our draft hand isn’t the boon some of you think it is.

Crows linked to Sinn at 4 according to hawks board
Might be a stretch for Carlton to turn pick 25 into a top 7 pick. They're the only ones stupid enough to do it.We need to start talking up and leaking articles about how great Gibcus and Andrew are so other clubs try and beat us to the punch so it allows Hobbs to fall through.![]()

if RFC have to take a tall I’d rather speculate on a player like Rentsch, I think he showed more potential than JVR but has had limited game time/exposure due to the season being halted.
Agreed. There will be plenty of kids in Victoria in particular that would have bolted up the draft ladder if they had been able to play regular football. There will be some good kids at later picks, but they might take a while to get going, many won't even get drafted. Cruel year on a lot of kids and those that have been around a few years will be the ones at the top of the draft pile. That doesn't always equate to AFL.The professional recruiters are saying how hard it is to assess kids this year coming off such little football so what hope do we amateurs have ??? Yes I’d take Gibcus in round 1 but not JVR.Gibcus is quality.
and we have spoken to Amiss and Rachelle recently.I would have thought with no real proven talls other than Balta we need a key position player asap. If the best one in the country this year is available at our pick, why would you wait another year, and gamble on a later pick which quite often with talls are a gamble. Isn't it best available, and best for what you need the most. Gibcus fits both of those.Sorry. Miller, Biggie, Ryan.
But you are right, we are short on talls ().
But we do have some young ones.
Losing both Chol and CCJ sucks.
What we need is another good KPF. Next year. But if we trade for Green (or similar) not sure how we get that tall.
So yep, pick what we can. JVR at 15 (17). But if Hobbs or similar is there at our first pick take them.

True in a sense. With so little exposed form this season our draft hand isn’t the boon some of you think it is.

I remember quite a while ago Tiger71 said were interested in a KPD and a winger with our first round picks. Gibcus + ??Interesting Twomey said that we haven't spoke to Hobbs in 6 months ... Could be trying to hide our interest in him or he really is just a smoke-screen.
Why speak to a kid who has a pic of lids on his wallInteresting Twomey said that we haven't spoke to Hobbs in 6 months ... Could be trying to hide our interest in him or he really is just a smoke-screen.
