Third tall forward? I think Treacy is that role, and Sturt is a medium forward. It also looks to me like that is the role Amiss would play rather than a genuine KPF.

Great effort, whilst I dont think Weideman is best 22 I initially struggled with the logic for needing more Key Position depth but I get it now.

Just wonder whether its too risky to use pick 17 for VR when we can get a Van Rooyen type later on in the National Draft or through the rookie draft. Maybe Caminiti?

Drafting quality Key Position depth with early picks has been notoriously difficult (think Luke Molan, Lucas Cook, Smith to name 3 burnt first rounders that spring to mind) so it has not been a pretty story for Melbourne for a long long time.

We've had to trade for key position players apart from MacDonald and Jackson ie: Lever, May, Brown.

Dont think Hobbs suits St Kilda any more than Wanganeen-Milera does. Both too extremes on either the spectrum when St Kilda need someone more in the middle who can bring some class and speed on the outside but also win their own ball.

So Goater or Chesser then?

I find it’s easier to just look at the players drafted after your pick and tell the OP who you believe better suits at your pick.

Basically just any mid that isn't a pure wing or a nuggety specialist inside player.

Seems like we might be in a slightly awkward spot for our needs where we will just miss out on the Erasmus/Ward types who would suit us but the Sinn/Chesser/Goater types who would really suit are projected to be in the back half of the teens rather than near 11. Johnson is the one in that early teens range seems like they would suit us so maybe I will settle on him as the better option.

It's why I wouldn't be surprised if we trade back a few spots on the night if one of the talls or Hobbs miss out on the top 10.

Sounds like Tyler Sonsie is the type of player you really want then, unless you have a personal bias against shorter mids.

Vic Metro dominated the 2019 U16 carnival, and early preseason rankings.

Then the AFL restructured the NAB League, which really negatively affected this year’s boys competition, as they had a very shortened preseason, and a lot of the Vic kids suffered from early season injuries, which greatly impacted their seasons.

Look at the Vic kids who have benefited the most. It’s the kids who have stayed healthy. Where as, it’s mostly the kids who have had injuries who have slid.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all, if in 5 years time Sinn, Chesser and Goater are all jumping up revised draft boards, ahead of Hobbs and Ward.

I had forgotten about Sonsie. He is another one who would suit us. He's got the talent to make up for being shorter and you can never have enough elite kicks but we already have a few smaller mids so might favour one of the taller ones just to add something different to our overall mix. If we are confident Owens will make is past 20, he might tick that 'taller mid' box so going shorter with a Sonsie would give us a good mix of mid types.

I'd have him behind Sinn (just seems like someone our recruiters would love) and Johnson in my preference order but wouldn't be disappointed if we took him.
