Jack Martin is one of those players who, in a losing side, gets pointed out as having gone missing, but in a winning side, gets pointed out as an important contributor.

Pretty sure he'll just about never be a guy who can take you to winning from losing off his own boot when the team as a whole is struggling. But get the team humming along properly and he'll be a damaging forward half player who provides some reward for effort from the blokes up-field.

Glass half empty stuff.

If you're "playing in a losing side", your midfield is inevitably getting whipped - and often.

Tough for players parked in the forward line to change the course of a game with an absent midfield.

Really interested to see what Williams can offer. Will he be fit, motivated? A bit of Anthony Davis about him, cringe every time he falls or is involved in contact. Huge, “I’m hurting so bad face too often.” Just crack in young man!

We've not (yet) seen anything close to the best of seasoned recruits like Marchbank (noting he was only 20 when SOS recruited him), McGovern, Williams and Martin.

Be it injury, fitness or whatever - all of them have contributed little to our cause.

Hoping 2022 will be different.

All, in form and fitness, are walk up starts in the 22 - and have much to offer...Marchy's now 24, 25 next month, Brackets and the other two guys 27 odd.

Now is their time to shine!!

They are all 'senior' players now. It is on them to be the onfield leaders.

I hope they want it enough.

As an aside, post Betts, Murphy and Jones, our list looks very light on in the older ranks?

Our top 10 by age...

So after the Murphy to 300 “fiasco”, does Newnes make it to 200?

I thought Newnes got cut.

No, though we never got any official word that he had signed/earned another contract for 2022.

There was a media report that surfaced earlier in the year suggesting he had met a senior game based trigger to secure another year on the list.

"Goddess"
Triggered a contract extension because he played more than 10 games. Gibbons and Ramsay were our only delistings.

So Levi retired?

The Carlton Football Club celebrates the contribution of true Blue Levi Casboult, who will depart IKON Park following the 2021 season after being informed that he would not be offered a new contract.

If you feel like arguing over something so small then sure, you are correct. Retired or delisted, either way he wasn't going to be on our list next year.

EDIT: I guess you could say that Eddie was delisted then too...

The Club held discussions with Betts over the last few weeks, with the decision ultimately made that he would not be offered a new contract.
