Check his highlights video out. Whilst I know it’s only that. It’s as good as most. Very exciting. All classBit of talk about Sonsie with our second pick - if he gets through to us, I'm tipping he'd be looked back as a steal. He has all the ingredients to be a top-liner and was touted as being taken at number 1 before the season started. The only real reason is not up there in top 5 discussion is only due to lack of game time (injury and covid)
Pretty sure one year Gold Coast traded a future first (think it ended up pick 11) to Geelong for pick 27. Just unfortunate that they don’t have the list space to be making a similar trade this year.Pass me whatever you're smoking.
If a list manager did that, they may as well clean out their desk on Monday.
Morning of draft and my final prediction and a very small inside mail:
7(9): Josh Gibcus DEF- 196cm 87kg GWV Rebals
(Bid on Josh Fahey)
15(17): Tyler Sonsie MID/FWD- 181cm 79kg Eastern Rangers
26: Sam Butler MID- 184cm 76kg GWV Rebals
27: Jack Williams FWD/RUCK- 196cm 94kg East Fremantle
28: Jake Soligo MID- 180cm 80kg Eastern Rangers
Personally I’d be very excited with this haul, two KP in Gibcus and Williams. Gibcus is one of the best athletic intercept key defender in the last few drafts and is a huge addition to a club that will be to afford him the best development in one of the best backlines in the AFL. He may only play 4-5 games next year but this kid will be the pillar of the clubs defence over the next decade. Williams a brute of a lad and has fantastic hands on the lead and will be nice replacement of CCJ.
Sonsie and Soligo are good mates and both offer speed, skill and exceptional skill on either side of their body. Both are very capable of going forward and providing a goal or two and Soligo in particular is a tenacious tackler. Sonsie at his best is a top 5 pick and consistency can be an issue he will be a huge talent for the tigers as he develops.
Butler is a courageous mid that can find his own footy in the clinches and also use it very smartly. Strong around contests and will be a Smokey to play a lot of senior footy in his first season.
2xKP
1xBalanced mid
2xsmall forward/mids
Tyler Sonsie is definitely not an unknown by any means. He has plenty of runs on the board and won the Vic metro mvp at under 16 level. Had an absolute blinder in his first VFL game and then had some injury issues which slowed his 2021 progress. If he was able to stay injury free this year he would have been a certainty to go at hawthorns pick 5.Bit of talk about Sonsie with our second pick - if he gets through to us, I'm tipping he'd be looked back as a steal. Reckon you can safely rule out Butler getting to our second rounders, if we wanted him we’d have to use 15(17) to get him or trade up to get another teens pick.

Hope we take Butler (after our first)Tyler Sonsie is definitely not an unknown by any means. He has plenty of runs on the board and won the Vic metro mvp at under 16 level. If he slides to our 15 then tigers will be getting a steal.
I would agree. But that pick was more of a wish then anything. If he was available at 26 Tigers are falling over themselves to grab him.
Confirmed trustworthy news sourceThe Age has us taking Gibcus then Johnson lol
I'm choosing to believe lolConfirmed trustworthy news source
sauce?Sounds like we might trade 15 down the order. Not happy. Should be trading it up
Herald Sun article where Matt Clarke says clubs in the 20’s are keen on 15. Only saw a snippet, might be more to the story?sauce?

One of my concerns if we go Hobbs, Sonsie is height - we already have a short midfield group - would love a bit of height added to the midfield mix.
It doesn't say that, would trade it down for a pick in the late teens if we get adequate compo. We acquired pick 15 by trading out a first round pick last year.
I don't agree with trading out a first round pick 2 years running.
