FAQs & Resources Thread

It has an index at the top with threadmarks so it's easy to find what you're looking for – or easier than scrolling through 250 pages of AFL Rules, Regulations and CBA pdfs anyway.

These sorts of questions are all answered along with a bunch of other resources made by posters from across BigFooty (feel free to add to it!):

Caruso in that interview all but said we'll be taking Finn..that now seems a given.
We just Gibcus to slide all the way to us for the perfect night.
Question, if Amiss slides, I think this is a chance, would we take him??

What if it's Erasmus who slides and not Gibcus or Amiss? Is he superior to anyone else at #13 (15)?

P.S. Just saw the article linking Essendon to Blake Howes. But the 'late mail' phantom at the end of the article had Howes going to Melbourne at #17 (19).

As that dopey redhead says “Please Explain”
I'm guessing aeroplanes are the closest symbols he could find for Bombers. See the Callum Twomey ''late mail'' article.

Essendon has also been interested in tall wingman Blake Howes, with Chesser and Goater looming as the main contenders to come into that group. None of this trio are among the 14 players attending the draft events spread out around the country.

Not sure why we’d tell them that, it only helps them get a trade together for the points.

Adrian Caruso is a guy of principles - doesn't bid "just for the sake of it" and gives fair warning of a bid. There are worse faults. Hopefully it creates goodwill towards us for future dealings.

We'd hope for that but there's no guarantee we ever get it, especially club like the Bulldogs which are one of our bigger rivals I'd much rather just screw them over and force them to lose more picks. We're competing clubs we should be doing everything we can to weaken our competition.

I don’t think there’s any issues at a club level between the 2 franchises.

The Western Bulldogs expansion team fans are the issue - not the people that work there.

Fine, even take out the rivalry part. Regardless they're a team we are comepting against to win a premiership and we're willlingly making it easier on them to get one of the best players in the draft.

Off topic: we’re never challenging for a flag whilst Leon is coach.
We literally made a grand final and he was the coach, do you really think we lost against Richmond in 2019 because the coach wasn't good enough? If we can make a grand final with him as the coach then we can certainly win one with him as the coach, he's not the best coach in the competition but it doesn't all of a sudden get so much harder from a prelim to a grand final.

They'd have one in place already. It just means it leaked now.

I said challenge; we didn’t challenge that day: and yes; his team selections leading up to that day put us behind the 8 Ball before a ball was bounced. Which is a part of his problem.
Like going back to the Mumford well during the most recent finals series.
But as I said; off topic and it’s been done to death.

Regardless we shouldn't be making it easier on any of the other 17 clubs in the competition.

You have to strike a balance with this sort of thing. Making rival clubs pay as much as possible sounds good and certainly has short-term benefit. But in the long-term it hurts you because other clubs will start doing the same thing in return.

Remember how Tom Green slid all the way to pick 10? No way that happens if we did business the way you're suggesting. Another club would pick him early just to spite us, because apparently that's what we would do if the shoe was on the other foot.

Would be very open to moving back a couple spots to then still select Butler, seems to be a fair bit of movement all throughout picks 10-20 so moving back a little bit and still getting our guy plus an extra pick makes sense. Don't think there's too much danger of Butler getting nabbed by another club in that range and if he does there is still options left on the board for us to take.
