I always worry when they say a midfielder's kicking needs work, especially when under pressure. It is often the area that never really improves e.g. Robbo and Matho

Waiting to see how Conole rated this draft he did say we were looking at depth in all 3 areas which we’ve done

Only problem is now Lester or one of our developing talls/ruckman (H.Smith, Lane, Fullarton) will have to play at KPD or Centre-Back for us at VFL level, which lets just say, isn't their main position they prefer to play on the ground.

I think it'll be Payne and Buzza playing as key defenders in the VFL to start the season.

This is my issue, if we're happy to draft another mid then why put need over talent last night?

Because the quality of players we needed isn't as strong at this pick.

Pretty good averages considering it's his first year in an elite program. 23 disposals, 6 marks and 5 tackles in the Colts GF too.

It's the 40s... In the teens, a coin-toss prospect is a big risk. When you're in the 40s, I don't mind a bit more of a hit or miss pick - if they have the upside, then why not have a crack... If it turns out a bust, it's not as much a problem.

From 5 mins of reading, it sounds like this guy has developed late, may keep coming on or may not. Inconsistent but well balanced player with good work rate. If he keeps developing, gets a bit of consistency... We'll see.

I suppose it's a good sign that on the Fox Footy coverage every player after pick 20 was a potential superstar and it was a miracle they slid that low in the draft and when they got to our guy they had zilch so started talking about something else.

Guess not, I'll be honest I've got no idea but it does feel like they've shifted the goalposts slightly. Either way looking forward to next season and its unlikely any one draftee is going to be the difference between winning and losing.

You mean we didn't draft the players you want. Pretty clear we drafted the players the recruiters wanted.

I think that's true.

On anything I've seen of Johnson and Goater would've been happy to take either . So we took someone before them and you'd have to presume we see something out of the ordinary.

Having produced a good season to date at WAFL Colts level, Tunstill took the opportunity against South Australia to put his name in the mind of recruiters with a strong display, particularly in the first half. Early on it felt like Tunstill was involved in every bit of WA play, winning the ball from stoppages or receiving a releasing handball to move the ball forward quickly. He timed his runs well and positioned smartly around contests to be in the best spot to win it. In the thick of it, Tunstill did well to keep the ball away from opponents, then fire out sharp handballs to teammates in space. What was arguably most impressive about Tunstill’s game was how he tracked the ball on the ground and refused to be knocked off balance, winning the ball against opponents and flicking it up to teammates before he could be brought to ground.

Lining up alongside East Perth teammate, Dittmar at the centre bounces, Tunstill started the game brightly and looked like being WA’s most productive midfielder. His hands were slick at each contest, sweeping up ground balls on the move and continuing his momentum to bustle through tackles. His output steadied after a terrific opening term, but Tunstill was still able to find the ball in his usual midfield post and has been a staple of his state’s Under 19 side.

One of the better West Australians on the day, was at least cleaner more often than not, particularly via hand, able to open the game up with long 45-degree handballs to a running teammate. Not only did he find plenty of the ball, but his second and third efforts through defensive pressure and shepherds were also noticeable, and he kept winning the pill throughout the match. He had a nice kick positioning well to Arthur Jones in the final quarter, and kept trying to move the ball in transition.

Looks like he did very well at state level considering where he's come from development wise.
