Player Watch Jake Soligo - Re-Signed to End of 2029

It almost seems like we're planning to have a bunch of players that can rotate between the forward line and midfield.

Pedlar, Berry, Rachele, Shoenberg, McHenry, Soligo, Taylor, as well as Sloane and Keays.

What’s the story with the trade the AFL blocked?

Sounds like the AFL needs to sleep on it and come up with a creative excuse tomorrow.

There is some rule preventing you from live-trading for a pick you previously traded away. Supposedly it's to stop clubs from gaming the system in terms of bids, trading out picks before a bid and then trading them back in again. Of course, you could just trade out your picks before a bid and then trade in some other pick. Seems half-baked to me.

If Nicks game plan is to keep speed in the game by having greater numbers that can play through the middle then this seems a good move

My thoughts too. There is plenty of strategic intent in our selections to implement a particular game style

Makes sense, it's a nice change from previous years where we had the crouch brothers stuck in the middle for 90% of the game as they can't play anywhere else.

Yes seems a typical AFL thought bubble that gets nowhere near achieving what it wants to and causes problems elsewhere. The AFL is too political to work effectively in areas like this.

Sounds like a classic half baked AFL rule that is applied only to about half the clubs at the discretion of AFL House.

46. JAKE SOLIGO

Position:
Small forward-midfielder

Size: 179cm, 80kg

Teams: Eastern Ranges/Dromana/Vic Metro

Don’t be fooled by Soligo’s stature, for the hard-working on-baller is terrific at the contest and astute at feeding the ball out to his teammates on the outside. The Dromana product, who’s drawn comparisons to Lions star Jarryd Lyons, averaged just 17 disposals from his first three NAB League matches before ramping that up to 27 disposals from his last four matches. Importantly, Soligo kicked three goals from those last four matches and averaged six tackles per match. He also turned heads with some long-range goals representing Vic Metro in Under 19s challenge matches and racked up 17 touches for Richmond’s VFL side in an impressive cameo against the Giants. A chance to sneak into the second round of the draft.

Moves a lot like a Mini-Me Shaun Higgins .....very calm under pressure, and doesn't get rushed ....has potential
