Broadcast quality lighting for Alberton Oval. At last, night footy at Alberton and the women maybe featuring in some prime time games.

Port Adelaide is truly establishing itself as a community leader through its development at Alberton.

Disregard the few bananas as Bob Francis used to call them (build absolutely nothing anywhere near anything), Port is making an investment that benefits yes itself but also the wider community.

It is a position not many football clubs can lay claim to, and should only benefit the advancement of our great club.

We use to be a great club, if you live in the past and off past achievements you only blur the future, the best thing this club can do is forget the cliches and make it's own history. The references back to the good old days is just embarrassing when after years of head nodding speeches you can't walk the walk.

This and AFLW stuff will be a welcome distraction from our on field stuff

Will AFLW eventually be played at the same time as AFL or will it remain a pre-season distraction?
For non-Vic sides it could work as running in parallel as play AFLW home the weeks AFL is away. For Vic sides that wouldn’t work as it’s always going to come second for 99% of fans.

Yeah but Sutcliffe wouldn't be from the soccer club that is going to benefit from the ground, like how the kids from the West Adelaide Bearcasts are there.
We are getting a lights upgrade aren't we? Now Sutcliffe can finally see the footy when the sun sets.

The AFL want it to have its own space in the calendar, as do the broadcasters.

Broadcasters won't commit to 9 games of AFL and 9 for AFLW each weekend. Its better for Fox Footy to have it going in the men's off season.

With 18 teams in the comp for 2022/23 they will have to go to conferences and start late November and finish up mid March. I can't see the day that AFLW will be a full 22 round comp + finals happening for at least 20 years.

I think a lot of people would happily do a doubleheader with something like an AFLW game at Vic Park or Punt road followed by a game at the G.

I've done it a few times with my mates seeing VFL games at Vic Park and then jumping on the train to the G.

I was thinking more of PAFC SANFL and AFLW matches being doubleheaders.

Yes and yes is a fan rather than anything official.

His twitter account profile says - Leader of the Government in the Senate. Senator for South Australia. Minister for Finance. Proud Dad. Frustrated Crows fan.

When he was minister for trade, he publicly got right behind our China strategy. Pretty sure Andrew Hunter worked with him on it.
He is a Crows fan but his wife is a very proud Port supporter. His kids are split between the two clubs.

Is that why he has - frustrated crows fan - on his twitter account profile?

I won’t watch that.
There’s enough winter footy going on.

I will totally watch a summer version of the sport though!

ScoMo was on the 7 News service tonight. Was it a Port strategy to delay it 24 hours, so that we had clean air, no talk of 2nd night draftees and rookies drafted on Friday on tonight's news service??

Nice tie ScoMo. If the teal blue was a touch lighter it could pass for a Sharkie's tie.

looks like they are covering up what the new deck in the Quinn stand will look like.

There is no doubt those who lived to see our club excel through the late 70s to the late 90s, have rose coloured glasses about our abilities. However a true Port Adelaide supporter will know the generations before moan about our lack of success from the late 60s to the glory period.

I will be the first to call out our shit management since joining the AFL but we as a supporter base must continue to pressure the club to build the club's infrastructure and management to deliver what we have in the past.

So rather than ignoring the past, we should hold up the past as a template of what we should achieve........and achieve not as the goal of success but the benchmark for a pass.

I see premierships similar to money. Money isn't the measure of success, rather the by-product of success. Same said with premierships; if we have the infrastructure and management systems, premierships will be the by-product of that success.

The point is we are not a great club, just run of the mill, no point sugarcoating the truth or telling yourself we are particularly when we have found new ways to lose the 4 most important games of the past 5 years, Bulldogs, Richmond, north Melbourne, west coast. Outside of the club that would be called a loser mentality
