He seems very switched on and intent on fighting for our club. As we saw last year, we rolled easily and gifted Port that solo showdown

Sorry for the thread necro, seemed the best place to put it.

Really liked him. Forthright, down to earth. Footy person. Polar opposite to Fages.

And yes, we had muffins :)

Nice interview.
I did cringe a touch when he said 'getting the right people in the right seats' though
Were have we heard that before :D
But the club does look better resourced with the staff they have have on board now

I liked this part:
We are lobbying the AFL for more night games in the Adelaide market. We don't necessarily want to play all these off-Broadway venues, but we understand it's part of the AFL system. We think we should command more games at the MCG, more games at Marvel and more marquee fixtures.

Do we now? Spoon, 15th, 14th and currently 12th. Outside of our own supporter base and Port fans invested in us losing, exactly what about us deserves premium fixturing. But then this is the same clown that reckoned Sloane has been unbelievably good this year. Another L plater ascended to the highest AFL office they’ll ever hold courtesy of our inability to attract league leading talent.

The fact we have a big following in Melbourne for a start? Send a few minnows to the shed grounds. Most games we play at the G or Marvel would get a big number of our own supporters. We are also an extremely exciting team to watch, we are the highest scorers this year despite not being top of the ladder.

You would hope we are a little more direct behind closed doors.

Not playing a game in Melbourne this year before Round 15 is a $*/! joke (as well as near impossible statistical anomaly).

2024 fixture must achieves:

No Geelong in Geelong
No Dogs in Ballarat
At least 5 games in MCG / Etihad (up from 3 this year)
Max 1 game in Darwin or TAS.
No Perth in Round 24 for the millionth time

Fairly wild swing there mate - key part of Hawthorn admin for a number of years. Hasn't done much wrong here.

Come on mate you gotta ask, our two collingwood games have been right up there with the best games of the season, usually the showdowns are aswell.
We are a watchable team now.

Unless we’re competing at the upper end, we are a minnow. And nobody cares that we’re high scoring, there’s only interest in us if we’re a team to beat. Which we haven’t been for 6 years now. Our turn will come when we’ve elevated ourselves out of the bottom 6 and into the top 6.

Leading into this year your argument has merit

But not for next year, even acknowledging we are 12th

Should we expect none of those trips? Unfortunately no. Do we deserve the spread of this year? Hell no

We’re one of the teams the media have absolutely been positive about as an up and comer, exciting to watch, even wasted season as anything could have happened.

We should be considered amongst the prime time teams next year.

Put it this way- if we were Carlton we would be banking on 10 Friday nights next year after a season that shows this promise.

Also, why the obsession with Friday nights always having to have a game in melb (recent years a high proportion of non-Vic Friday nights have been part of a weird Fri night double)

If broadcasters are the main stakeholder why do they really care.

I get it’s nice For the city and they’re so used to it it’s feel odd when there’s no Fri night footy vibe but that’s irrelevant.

For a comp based so much around tv audiences fri might footy eksewhere shouldn’t matter as long as they choose the right fixtures
