Back 6 plus 1 on the bench is so hard to pick.
I’m leaning towards
Chapman
Young
Ryan
Pearce
Hamling
Logue
Walker

As our best and a pretty versatile mix.

Cox- not sure where that leaves him If all are fit.
Clark - wing I suppose, or take Walker’s spot.
Hughes, Wilson etc miss out I guess.

It should be a v good defence if we don’t get mauled by injury

Yes, We have 4 defenders who could be starting 22 loitering in the sidelines, plus Aish, I and some young fellas who could debut there.

Surely Aish starts first bounce of the season on one of the wings ?
Probably our most consistent player last year and deserves to be rewarded .
If Tucker is on before Aish I’ll Spew .

Really interested to see how Hamling goes .
He’s really our only Gorilla Handler .

I see the wing spots currently as Aish and Tucker's to lose.

Possibly but you could say that about most players on the team other than Fyfe, Luke Ryan , Sean Darcy and probably T-bone .
Brayshaw and Serong are close to a lock but still have some fail abilities.
Mundy goes without saying but the expectation of him backing up a Stellar year like last year aren’t high IMO .

We thankfully now have reasonable
depth so most players have someone in the wings waiting to take their position

Our best 22 is a lot more locked in than a year ago.

I don't expect to see the same kind of extended opportunities to fast track players (Brayshaw, Cerra, Young, Henry etc). I am thinking more time will be spent at Peel before coming in.

Fail abilities... um, fallibility

Pretty much
I guess I’m so used to not seeing half of them there through injury it’s still hard to call them a lock .
Young is one I missed as a lock ( and probably Logue and Pearce) but I still think everyone else needs to be on their game

Taberner and Lobb are absolutely locked in and will play every game they are available for. Walters too.

Tabs I confirmed
Lobb I’m off him because he wanted to leave , plus form was hot and cold , mostly cold this year .
Walters - I hope so . Was on the verge of being dropped late in the season .

That's the problem with Lobb, he knows he's a lock so he swans around picking and choosing when to go hard. I wish it weren't so, but you're probably right.

This is how I'd expect us to line up next year, with a full list to pick from.

FREO
FB: Ryan, Pearce, Logue
HB: Clark, Cox, Young
C: Tucker, Fyfe, Aish
HF: Sturt, Taberner, Schultz
FF: Walters, Treacy, Lobb
R: Darcy, Brayshaw, Serong
INT: Mundy, Henry, Frederick, Colyer

PEEL
FB: Wilson, Hamling, Hughes
HB: Walker, Chapman, O'Driscoll
C: Johnson, Blakely, Worner
HF: Banfield, Benning, Erasmus
FF: Western, Amiss, Switkowski
R: Meek, Valente, Crowden
INT: Acres,

I know Colyer may raise some eyebrows, but can't knock his 2021 and we're still not blessed with speed. Also hoping we see more of Henry on the wing next year.

B Ryan Pearce Logue
HB Young Cox Walker
C Clark Johnson Henry
HF Sturt Taberner Erasmus
F Walters Treacy Amiss
R Darcy Fyfe Serong
I Mundy Chapman Benning Switkowski

If Colyer isn’t getting pushed out of games during the year, I don’t think we will play finals.
A similar position to Conca, good foot soldiers, but we need players at Peel ripping it up for selection.
As for speed Walker, Clark, Frederick in the same team would be something behold.

After the impressive season Walker had we would be better off keeping him in the b22 to develop at the afl level. This is what irks me about Clark taking his spot.

The commitment to your craft is commendable

Remembering Lobb nearly had a season ending injury in a practice game , He may still have his best football in Purple ahead of him.The game against Sydney is worth watching again to see what value he is capable of .A weapon in a good side that Freo are approaching.!

From memory Sydney had a very short backline that night and he played on a guy 6 inches shorter than him.
I sincerely hope his best football for us is ahead of him.
