Nick Blakey
Nick Blakey is going well. He is four weeks into a running program and at the moment he is building some volume and speed into his running. He’s going to be doing some football progressions over the break and then he will look to join the main group in January.

Callum Mills
Callum is going well and is probably a little bit ahead of where we expected him to be. We’ve been really lucky to receive some external expert advice from a tendon specialist who has been consulting to Callum. He is running at the moment, he is building his volumes up to five-six km per session so we’re happy with his progress.

Will Hayward
He is back in full training now and has fully recovered from his shoulder surgery. He is doing everything normally in the gym and back doing full contact training well

Sam Naismith
It’s obviously going to be a really long and slow progress for Sam, but he is attacking his rehabilitation well. It has been 10 months since his operation now, and he catches up with the surgeon again this week, so we’re hoping the surgeon is going to be happy with his progress and is going to allow him to continue his rehab.

Is there any realistic expectation that Naismith will ever pull on the boots again?

That last little bit makes me think no. It was always a long shot, but to think after 10 months a surgeon might put a stop to rehab.... some players are fully recovered and back on the field in that time frame. That has to be a big question mark.

Ladhams simultaneously replaces him in the ruck position and the questionable tattoo list. I'm not sure I see him getting back in.

We get an A from ESPN

will post in draft thread too

Heard it straight from ESPN.
Of all the people who have not played an AFL game yet, we now have a top bunch of people who have not played an AFL game yet.

Ben dickhead Waterworth from Fox gave us a C , that's the last one i'll read

Heard it straight from Fox Sports.
Of all the people who have not played an AFL game yet, we now have a mediocre bunch of people who have not played an AFL game yet.

Recognised LRT, Smithy, Rhyce, Goodsey of course, a few others looked familiar but couldn't name. Didn't see Macca.

Really happy to see Goodesy socialising with his former teammates and seemingly a good relationship with Swans as opposed to the AFL as a whole. Who is that between Goodesy and Ball?

Tom Harley on Dwayne's World
starts @ 1:31:50 to 1:46:30
Lance training, 1000 goals, ...., do we take Lance off if he kicks 4 goals? plan for crowd protection if required (not really)
fixture request Marngrook at SCG for Friday, even spread of day/afternoon/night games esp. for young families
discussion on Academy, housing allowance for support staff, not expecting anything like COLA for players
rotating grand finals - not discussed in club
Adam Goodes apology - it is up to Adam, GO Foundation
perhaps only one game in pre-season, would prefer a couple of games

Anderson to play VFL for Sydney this year. May get picked up in the SSP in March or possibly the mid season rookie draft. Choose to stick with the Swans than take up VFL opportunities in Melbourne.

Jake Niall this morning:

"The Sydney Swans have recovered from a troubling $6.1 million loss in 2020 and are no longer one of the AFL’s financially “assisted” clubs.

Having lost $6.1m, depleting all their cash reserves of $4.5m and forcing them to borrow $1.5m from the AFL last year, the Swans have managed a significant turnaround by wiping off their debt to the league and becoming financially independent, or what the AFL terms an “unassisted club” during the pandemic.

Interview with Tom Harley

The Swans in general (very much lead by Harley and Horse) play a very diplomatic bat. Theres a part of me which wants them to come and say F*** you AFL, or even bring to the surface some minor issues of inequality, but at the same time its understandable why they need to be diplomatic.. and do a very good job of that.

Really? I was not expecting Warner to get 37. I still wish Blakey had gotten the number to be honest.

Any hope of that number being passed on to a worthy recipient was dashed the moment Elijah Taylor did what he did. It made clear what was probably already very common sense but many fans did not want to accept - which is that there's never gonna be anyone like Goodes who will don that number. It'd stay hung up collecting cobwebs for decades if we wait for someone Goodes-worthy to have it. Might as well get it back out on the field and hope that eventually someone in it contributes to a flag. That's the best way to honour the 37.
