Tbh he looks like our likely Cunnington replacement too. Skill set and poiseWhy do people insist on putting Powell on a wing? He is an inside mid.

I think people are crazy if they don't think Josh Walker will play regular senior footy.
He's come into training in top nick and fills a few needs on field for us.
Sure his skills aren't fantastic but he's not going to get left behind either.
i would play Powell before GreenwoodAt 20 years of age, he isn't starting ahead of Greenwood, Simpkin, Davies-Uniacke, Cunnington or even Thomas.
It's either interchange, wing or a flank when putting together these best 22 sides. TP does have the rare ability to find the footy just about anywhere, that flexibility will allow him to play on a flank/wing, which we saw this year.
It'll be a different story in a couple years time.
Because anderson can’t kickWhy do people think Greenwood is a better mid than Anderson?
His pressure acts and tackle numbers are insane. Why do people think Greenwood is a better mid than Anderson?
I think Comben plays every game if fit, probably ahead of Anderson or Mahoney. I’d probably also leave Walker out, move LMac back, and play Curtis Taylor as a wing/HFF rotation. That side is pretty spot on thoughBack 6
FB - Kayne Turner (26) - Ben McKay (24) - Josh Walker (29)
HB - Jack Ziebell (31) - Aiden Corr (28) - Aaron Hall (31)
IC - Aiden Bonar (23)
Most mature line by a long way. I think it's a positive that our back 6 is senior & stacked with leaders, it will hopefully set us in good stead to not get blown away in 2022. Corr's fitness is a big point of difference to 2021, need him to get 22 games as it just straightens us up really well. Walker to play the intercept role, whilst Turner plays the lockdown small. Ziebell & Hall to continue to improve on their excellent 2021 seasons. Bonar was really impressive before going down injured this year, so hopeful he can stay fit and continue to develop. Others in the mix are Goater, Bosenavulagi, Young, P.Walker & Perez, no doubt they will get a taste with some injuries so it's whoever wants it the most at VFL level - Good problem to have. Avg. Age - 27.4 years.
Mid 6
C - Tom Powell (20) - Jy Simpkin (24) - Luke McDonald (27)
FOL - Todd Goldstein (34) - Luke Davies-Uniacke (23) - Hugh Greenwood (30)
IC - Will Phillips (20) - Jed Anderson (28)
Starting to look really balanced in here from an age perspective, with another year under Jy & Luke's belt - Both need to really assert themselves on the competition this year if we are to make any reasonable jump. Greenwood is such a big get for us with the Cunnington news, will be the defensive pillar of our midfield and ensure that we do not get bullied. Jed & Will may very well be fighting for a spot given they aren't super versatile. Powell doesn't have that issue and the fact he can accumulate anywhere on the ground, allows him to sit on a wing whilst having bursts in the mid. LMac to continue in the defensive wing role would be a given. Hopefully Goldy improves with CCJ in the side. Others in the mix are Laz & Scott. Avg. Age - 25.8 years.
Forward 6
HF - Tarryn Thomas (22) - Callum Coleman-Jones (23) - Jason Horne-Francis (19)
FF - Cam Zurhaar (24) - Nick Larkey (24) - Jaidyn Stephenson (23)
IC - Jack Mahoney (20)
A lot gets said about our midfield, but we are putting together some sort of forward line as well. Great mix of X-Factor, competitiveness & defense. CCJ really straightens us out IMO, he will make Souv & CZ's lives a lot easier. JHF & Mahoney playing that pressure forward role will make us far harder to rebound against. CZ, TT, JHF & JS2 are 4 absolute nightmare matchups for opposition coaches, capable of playing small & tall. If we can get these guys some decent supply, they should kick a lot of goals in 2022. Others in the mix are Ford, Taylor, Spicer & Curtis. Avg. Age - 22.1 years.
We should it gives us better structure at both ends and when Goldy goes to the benchWe won't play three talls in defence and we won't play three talls in attack.
Walker and Comben won't be in R1.
Comben is not in competition with Larks or CCJ. He’s a genuine center half forward who will hit up out of defence, roam around and crash packs. The other two are primarily stationary/lead-up targets and best suited inside 50. I reckon Comben is a lock if fit.We won't play three talls in defence and we won't play three talls in attack.

Jed played one game with a proper pre season this year. Against the Gold Coast and he was easily better than Hugh. He had more tackles (14 - 10) and more pressure acts (34 - 26). He got the ball more and did more with it, had a higher disposal efficiency and had 17 contested possessions to 13. Before he hurt his ankle he was shutting out Bontempelli in our worst game of the year. He also played less than half as many games as Greenwood and kicked two goals less. Three less marks (in total from less than half as many games) as well. His pressure acts and tackle numbers are insane.
Offers a lot with his presence and ability to lockdown opposition mids.
Has breakaway speed and kicks goals too.
Greenwood is a clumsy kick as wellBecause anderson can’t kick
Room for both and larks up forward then CCJ goes into ruck when Goldy needs a spell on the benchComben > CCJ.

Zurhaar is a medium forward who can tackle wouldn’t lump him in with themGoldy spends 5 mins on the bench a week.
There isn’t room for 3 talls plus Zurhaar down there
Zurhaar is a medium forward who can tackle wouldn’t lump him in with them
most teams play 3 tall forwards or 2 tall forwards and 2rucks and they make it work fine
melbourne for instance use mcdonald brown Jackson and Gawn
then they have fritsch as a medium
Sleevo and TT are quickI included Zurhaar because he plays like a marking forward.
Melbourne also have some swift small forwards who can prevent the ball getting out of it isn’t marked by aforementioned tall forwards.
We have none.
No current season stats available

Turner is a lock in defenceStruth, its hard to pick a starting 22 for round 1, let alone a best 22. Great problem for Nobes to have and hopefully we have near a full list available come March. Could easily pick a starting line up and have 10-12 players unlucky to miss.....and that bodes well for competitiveness on the track over summer and let the team pick itself based on that. I don't profess to have be an expert by any means but you could quite conceivably have a line up rd 1 subject to health:
FB: JZ McKay Hall
CHB: Lmac Corr Perez
C: Polec Hugh Lazarro
CHF: TT Comben JHF
FF: Slevo Souva Zurhaar
Ruck: Goldy LDU Jy
Pine: CCJ, Mahoney, Powell, WillPhil
EMG/f*n unlucky: Bonar (inj?) Cunners(ill?) Jed, Atu, J Walker, X, Fordy, Curtis Taylor, Bailey, Pheonix, Young
Of course there seems some excitement around McGuinness, and Walker was supposed to be close to debuting last year.
There are so many possible starting line ups for Rd 1, that can't help but think subject to health and fitness, the competition for spots is going to drive this group to bigger and better things.
