The punishments handed out by CA were a knee-jerk reaction to the media's treatment of the issue and was a complete overreaction on their behalf.

IMO Sniffy, the FTB Slogger and Bannedcroft should have never played First Class Cricket again. The three got off lightly. Sniffy's appointment as vc showed CA expect fans to have the memory of goldfish.

Just like to add, if it hasn't been mentioned before, that in the corresponding game 35 years ago Australia lost the Ashes and the test match within three days and by an innings and 14 runs.

I enjoyed the payback.

Smith is fine, was captain at the time, knew and was just inept, not like he was Afridi and thinking buffet to be actively involved. Right to get banned though as buck stopped with him. VC is fine, but never captain again, that is burned.

Warner screamed flog back then, so I back that Bancoft being the newbie Warner being the flog and being the impetus for it to occur as trust me bro, just walk into that store and take shit from the shelf it's fine.

Bancroft should have been right ousted just for being a squib. In what universe does some sentient thing decide "I'm going to grab some paper and scratch a ball" whilst surrounded by cameras, people and microphones and think that it's a great idea? Smith seems the closet kid happy to be there with obvious skill to be there in earnest, should have never been given captaincy originally but was, and it was more delegation orientated for people to screw it in his stead. This is why Warner was more the "problem" for me, but since he was opener guy and we suck at those, they persisted with him and blamed Bancroft whose only crime is being new and stupid under a rather inept captain if great bloke. What Smith lacked was a Katich to punch him in the face with an DMC cover.

As Smith is also generally in the cordon, it's mostly he's in great position for it, as well as Carey who obviously wasn't VC since newer debut. Odd flex to query the VC status I'd have thought. They've all mostly experience leading Shield teams, AUS A, AUS and county or franchises as if you don't involve such experience in the moments.

Seeing Smith back as captain makes the treatment of Paine look all the worse. If I was him, I'd be suing the pants off of CA.

That can't be right. It was 2-2 in 2019. He must mean series in Australia.

And even including 2010-11 it's still a pretty dominant record.
