Buckley tore his good hammy last Wed at training, he was hoping to get up for his last Anzac Day game and he failed. He then told the club he was announcing his retirement this week. He has been told to rethink his decision and this is the subject of speculation he would do it on Thursday Night on the Footy Show. This will not happen they hope he will get back after the mid season break.
Bucks has had a gutful and watch this space if he gets his way.

Tough luck if the above is true. Be brave guys, I hope Bucks goes out onto the field in the black and white once again. Cheers. Buckley, once a great - always a great. :)

I'm a bit of a bee dee fan myself, he does post some spicy rumours, but let's have a look at what he's posted just on the Collingwood board.

On Guy McKenna last year
Has been told not required

pre season
Fraser's knee is causing him big problems. He hobbled off the track today after 10mins going at 30%. He can't run. The operation he had pre-christmas looks like not being very successful. He is unlikely to play RD1 and may be more like RD6 and a a fwd, wont be playing ruck. Bryan/Richards will cover.
Didak okay for Rd2. Licuria to play up fwd. Davis/R.Shaw and Johnson as midfielders this yr and Rocca in the GS 1 out.

Thanks mate, very pleasing post to see from an opposition support.

Nothing from that Pre-season report sounds to far off the mark IMO.

Fraser has looked proppy as since RD1, maybe he's knee has been causing him troubles? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest

Didak was close to being right for RD2, so again, not far off the mark. An emergency for Rd4 and nearly playing for Willy Rd2, I'd say this was very close to the mark.

Davis has been getting swung through the midfield, to little effect mind you. Johnsons playing through there more too. I think Rhyce would be too, but he's shown he's invaluable off that back flank.

Rocca... Mmm I think this is close to the mark as well, is showing he can't last the distance as much anymore. Hardly see him outside the arc, close enough to being outta the square.

Thats how I see it anyways.

If Bee Dee says it he/she is normally right most of the time.

Haven't seen a player as great as Buckley in the red & blue, was too young to see Flower play, I hope this isn't true as I love having the champions I grew up with out on the track :(

He said himself on SEN yesterday afternoon that he had heard the rumours and that they were 100% bulldust. He conceeded that he was finding it harder to get over the hammy than he thought, but he would be back within a couple weeks. He said he was absolutely, definately not retiring

But of course he would say that even if it wasn't or is true.

In his defence Jabso, Fraser doesn't look right and should not have played in Round 1. Chris Bryan may come into the side tomorrow for the injured Fraser.

As for the rumour, Buckley won't pull the pin before the season is finished, the captain carries more dignity and pride.

What I do find odd is the length of time it has taken Buckley to get right. There was talk of this injury well prior to any confirmation and then it’s been a long time since then. It must be a good 2 months all up. There has to be something more than meets the eye. Anyway you look at it it is a concern.

In my opinion if buckley returns to the field within the next 2-3 weeks and this rumour turns out to be incorrect - ban beedee.

Bucks spoke on Sen the other night about all the rumours and he categorically said that no ,he is definately not going to retire, and will not coach, and he said he'll be back playing in the balck and white in afew weeks, and no he isn't playing ANZAC day.

I heard the sizzling up of the retirement-on-the-footy-show rumours on SEN also ... here's hoping it's garbage. I can barely remember a collingwood game without buckley! :(

I am deeply concerned about this rumour. I have it on good authority that Bucks wasn't keen to continue playing this year and was persuaded by club officials and the coaching staff. This information was straight from an opposition coaches mouth who I refuse to name. I am good friends with this particular coaches cousin and he told him this at a family function around a month ago. If he has done his other hammy this could be the last straw, im hoping your wrong on this one beedee

It is? Seems to be via a friend who is a cousin of an opposition coach. Obviously the opposition coach heard from some other source which I doubt was Buckley so is fourth hand at best. It may be true but your information is a fair but removed.
