Round 2
Adelaide v North Melbourne
Sunday 16 January
Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval)
2:40pm

After a big win down south, the girls head to their usual 'home' for this week's game against North Melbourne. North Melbourne were far from convincing in their win over Geelong. Can the girls make it 2 from 2?

Interested in Jasmine Simmons today, she wasn’t too bad against the Lions (some handballs for players to run onto were handy) but still think she needs to improve dramatically to hold her spot. After watching some of the other matches this weekend the junior football background Vs athletes from non-football backgrounds is at an interesting junction.

It’s also interesting for a team like the Croes that will probably be looking at being finals contenders whether they should be experimenting with a player like her right now or what the point is playing her at the moment on a half-back/wing and have her playing over those who have come through junior pathways like a Tonon, Newman, Prowse or even a Dowrick now she’s available.

On the game, both teams play very similar game styles, their midfield of Riddell, Garner, Kearney and Bruton all want to get a lot of the ball and run forward to impact on the scoreboard. Jas Garner battered a weak 2020 Crows side the last time the teams played and is the type of strong inside/outside player the Crows have failed to keep in check in the past.

Jones V Ashmore on the wing is going to be another interesting battle to keep tabs on and with their normal Ruck out will be interesting to see if Emma King splits her time in the ruck as Sarah Allan will have her hands full with her when she plays out of the square, also expect Jess Duffin as always will try to get loose in the backline to intercept a lot of the Crows bombed forward entrees - which the Crows were still guilty of last week and only got away with it due to Lutkins injury.

Was really impressed with Gore, Racjic, Biddell and even McKinnon who all played really important roles to stop the opposition forwards getting clean ball last week hopefully they can do the same today.

As I mentioned pre-game watching Simmons closely, so far she looks absolutely lost out there, harsh but she shouldn’t be playing in front of others on the list.

Mistake riddled, forward of the ball mess that quarter all up.

Defended well, linked up nicely but as with last week those forward entries aren't good at all

At the ground, most of the play has been a long way from me so hard to get a feel, but it feels like there's a million frees. Is it sloppy play or just overzealous umpiring?

Matches like this are about taking your opportunities when they come. Woodland proving crutch so far this season!
Both IMO.

Couple of sloppy tackles but they're paying a lot of soft frees

I agree with you in that we need to be prioritizing youth that came through a full junior pathway. Across the league these players have been miles ahead. Our side should be filled with them in all the periphery roles
