Society/Culture Has cancel culture gone too far?

WHY would you recommend that ?
You're becoming increasingly unbalanced.

It's an actual journalistic look and approach to one of the most important issues in our country.
It includes experts, evidence, logical reasoning, clear connections. And it's been put together really well.

An important question is, who wouldn't recommended it? And why would they take issue with it?

A mere sideshow.

This conservative revolt against CRT is far more impactful and cancelling than a bunch of racist arseholes being banned from twitter.
If you see that revolt as cancelling then why are you not in agreement that it can go too far?

In horse racing they don’t remove a second horse which is troubling the first horse, they simply but blinkers on the first horse.

I strongly suspect before cancel was a thing, these ‘horses’ probably never even notices statues etc. I know I don’t

Cancel culture is as old as humanity.
British Empire cancelled every culture they invaded. As did everyone back to the Egyptians.
US cancelled American Indian culture, Spain did it to indigenous South America.
Hell Australia pretty effectively cancelled Aboriginal culture.
Makes a few people boycotting you for saying nasty things seem pretty tame.

Got to lose respect for Costello, weak as piss.
Also the Rolling Stones as they've stopped playing Brown Sugar.

Brown Sugar was designed to shock, it was written about black slavery and abuse , in a lighthearted and crude way. Its the underlying topic of the entire song.

Not comparable to the lyric in Oliver's Army which used a single powerful word to describe the way the Irish were thought of by the British.

'In the liner notes to the compilation album Jump Back (1993), Jagger says, "The lyric was all to do with the dual combination of drugs and girls.'

He's had to say a lot more about it since then.

Yes there are some double meanings , but its also pretty explicit at times.
"Fifty years later, critic Tom Taylor concludes that the song "does not offer one considered thought to the subject matter that it sings of..." and "the atrocity of the slave trade, rape and the unimaginable suffering therein should not be adorned with gyrating, glib lyrics, guitar solos and no redeeming features in the way of discerned appraisal."

Thank you for the history lesson.
Obvious that the only appropriate outcome is
The Stones give all the money they made off the song to BLM.
Elvis C can donate all the money he made off Oliver's Army to Sinn Fein.
They can afford it and everyone will feel good.

I'm not ahuge fan of people accepting awards like AOTY and then using that as a platform to disrespect the award, occasion, country etc. but FMD what a total nothing story.

'Girl stands next to PM and pulls face' really should not be a top news story.
But "conservatives mad at nasty womz" is a perpetual story.
