It's important to note that rapping is a style of delivery and not a genre in itself. You wouldn't play gangsta rap to a Kindergarten much like you wouldn't play metalcore like The Amity Affliction.
in fairness you should avoid anywhere that plays amity affliction

Stopped years ago, a shadow of what it use to be.
Yeah I feel the same.
Not as much now since Double J started and that became the more alternate arm of the three stations. Generally just while im driving, sadly has become almost a commercial station nowadays.
Yeah that’s what I feel like to. I don’t actually listen to JJ but perhaps should give it a go.

I have no idea about a lot of the music that’s been played so far.

Or they just have changed the focus of there music/listeners. It hasn't been a subtle change.

My daughters in their early twenties say the same thing.
The people in here are probs aging out of it.

Wolf Alice not cracking the 200 at all is the final straw for me that I need to switch predominantly to Double J.

Yeah I dunno, I still listen to heaps of new music and go to gigs regularly. I just think they've changed the style of station it is. Focusing on younger people, but not alternative music. My girls call it a teenie bopper station.

Double J was when this happened imo. I found it noticeable.

Nah I am open to lots of music. Love finding new things. Heck I love the 1975 and Doja Cat 😂

I generally don’t enjoy a lot of Aussie music though and they thrash that so perhaps that’s why.
To be fair playing Australian music is the reason the station exists.

The same thing happens every year countdown day. People say it’s not as good as it used to be/it’s too mainstream now but it still gets heaps of people voting and listening to it. Generations change. I still listen even though I don’t enjoy it as much as when I was the target audience, but that’s kind of the point of the station.

I think it has predominantly been a youth station rather than an alternative station for quite a while.

yeah I get that but it’s almost like they’ve double down on Aussie music and are forcing it rather than it organically earning it.

King Stingray and methyl Ethel would have both made my 10 if I did it today, those songs have really grown on me.

I certainly don’t listen to it as much as I use to but if one good thing came out of yesterday I now know who Sam Fender is. Seventeen Going Under is a cracking track.
