Oh well, time for a bit of Terry Jones. Think I might give this thread a pass as a little too much 'what a about'.Without any comment on Jordan that last para is an indictment on our courts and the magistrate concerned - 7 charges and not convicted - that is an absolute and utter travesty of justice.
Just an observation - twice caught failing to display a P plate smacks of an attempt at evasion of his compliance obligations as a P plater and an attempt to dodge notice from the police.

That’s for the justices system, they considered that and punished him just like you and I would get punished. That’s where it endsMaybe we should think of the victims of drink driving instead.
True. He’s been punished. That’s for the justices system, they considered that and punished him just like you and I would get punished. That’s where it ends

It’s not up to the club to punish him, I have never had a single point on my license for anything in 10 odd years of driving. But we have a justice system to deal with these issues they punished him and that’s where it should endTrue. He’s been punished.
It just seems like you don’t think drink driving is all that serious.
Yeah I know, it’s just that you said earlier it was a minor offence. It’s not up to the club to punish him, I have never had a single point on my license for anything in 10 odd years of driving. But we have a justice system to deal with these issues they punished him and that’s where it should end
Well that’s how the justice system sees itYeah I know, it’s just that you said earlier it was a minor offence.
Yeah I know, would be great if penalties were tougher. Might save a few hundred people a year.Well that’s how the justice system sees it
J - I've been a professional driver for over 30 years and speeding although a blight is not the major cause of accidents.Yeah I know, would be great if penalties were tougher. Might save a few hundred people a year.
"All" being the key word here.Fair string, but all really minor misdemeanours in my eyes.
The justice system isn't infallible and is criticised widely for often not being in line with community expectations or sentiment particularly as attitudes change over time.Well that’s how the justice system sees it
I was talking about drink driving. De Goey was caught with an alcohol reading of nearly 0.1 in 2018. I see this as a major incident.J - I've been a professional driver for over 30 years and speeding although a blight is not the major cause of accidents.
Stupidity is - in all it's many guises on the road but it isn't penalized because govts are obsessed with revenue raising through speeding fines.
Well that too is a major issue but one that should carry a criminal penalty - after all if you have a reading of .1 you are knowingly endangering the lives of other road users.I was talking about drink driving. De Goey was caught with an alcohol reading of nearly 0.1 in 2018. I see this as a major incident.

Does that make De Goey a felon under our law?
Does that make De Goey a felon under our law?
Ok. What’s it mean in the US?No. Try again. Felony isn’t a term used in Australia. It is a US term misunderstood by many.

So would it be more accurate to call him a convicted criminal, under Australian law, due to the drink driving charge being a criminal charge? It is a level of crime - quite serious. Drink driving isn’t one. Neither was the initial charge to De Goey. It was a misdemeanour. Now downgraded to a “violation” - I think that is the class of the plea bargain charge but am guessing on the last bit.
So coming online and posting that JDG is a felon is ignorant, wrong and defamatory.

I didn’t say he was a felon mate. Just asking a question. It is a level of crime - quite serious. Drink driving isn’t one. Neither was the initial charge to De Goey. It was a misdemeanour.
