Would want to have a good hard look at who is picking the coaches of both the Socceroos and Matildas . This team is no certainty to beat the 3rd place team in the other group let alone trouble the 5th place Sth American team . To lead twice and not secure the points should not be acceptable .

Need to be looking internationally for a new coach. Can’t be having blokes who have managed in ALeague if we want to be competing on the world stage. Players are a long way off it too. Going to be a long way back unfortunately

- All up, that second half performance was very poor from everyone, players and manager.

- If we qualify directly from the position we are in it’ll be a bigger achievement than the Uruguay 2005 win.

Agree. This is all on FFA. Another rebuild/clean out. What’s happening with their state level academies. Why, when we’re qualifying for 4 consecutive World Cups, that Australia goes backwards in each?

Roll the UAE in two legs, then roll Uruguay in two legs as a nice prep for the World Cup, will work out well when you think about it

To leave it to the last two games was the worst case, and they did. Draw against Saudis at home was unacceptable. Then top it off with another draw 5 days later v China. There’s no ruthlessness in this squad. Too many combinations in the midfield. First game of Hrustic and Mooy, too late now

Only thing for Australia is goal difference. Japan will probably smash Vietnam anyway
To think they were a draw or loss against Australia away from sacking their coach to suddenly winning 4 in a row is crazy.
However, in that time? Australia has 6 points from 4. Not good enough.

As sad as it is, hope so too. We’re not going to do any damage in Qatar anyway. Real wake up call. But can’t see it changing quick. Australia has dropped off in terms of professionalism and elite players at the top level. If Australia are doing the A league route, the format has to change to evolve the game. FFA is miles behind.
