Yeah that's a fresh one.

Run along back to the freo board troll.
Ooohhh, a troll, that's original as well.

We tired of Tarrant and rate Ben Reids talent and think he could be something special.

Okay, wow, you made a point. you 'think' he could be special...great
And you tired of Tarrant, whereas he's been great for us so far this year, which was my point.

not much to it. You're all getting so defensive for some reason. Can't imagine what it is...

HOOGY HOOGY

He will let you down in the big ones. Always does. Evidence - last qrtr of eagles game - drops a chest mark right in front - game over.

When you trade Hoogster - sometimes it is one eye on the future.

CFC wanted to trade into top 10 of super draft and thanks to FREO we achieved that. Will reid be a star? - all the signs suggest so...

I will say though dealing with FREO is a pleasure - no bullshit - if the deal is right they will do it.

If only some of those other clubs had the same attitude - instead of the trade must be a 'screw you' attitude. Bring on free agency!!

Well don't talk about our players and put there names in the thread title. He's not yours anymore. Get used to it.

I'm happy with Medders and Reid, with huge upside with recruiting Reid. As the old saying goes, "BUY LOW, SELL HIGH"

I don't care what other people think, as long as you are happy, who gives a rats.

medders will kick more accurately then tarrant any day of the week

That's probably true. He's a fantastic kick.

well it's his name, either way.

I don't think we've missed him much, even with the likes of Rusling, Medhurst and Didak injured for much of the year.

We did struggle to get the pill accross half forward for a while, but that seems to have been resolved somewhat.

Don't want to respark the bushfire, but didn't you guys all rip Tarrant for missing heaps of goals?

Best thing about Tarrant so far that I've noticed is that when the ball hits the ground he's still totally in it and if he gets it quickly on the boot it's probably more likely to go than a set shot. When he doesnt have to thing too much about the kick. Just the instinctive, bang got a second, goal....bang

Yes, because its true. Would you like to know how many goals he scored in the 2002 finals series?

And we didnt trade Tarrant for Cloke, we traded him for Reid and Medhurst. Cloke is earmarked to replace Rocca, and yes he does have to improve his kicking. Now move on.

i thought reading the first post that this topic was about our inaccuracy in front of goals:confused:. and if u wanna compare tarrant and cloke look at the 6 yrs and 130 games between em

You're asking me a question, but asking me to move on!? Make up your mind.

By the way, 2002 was 5 years ago.

Cloke is 6 years younger than Tarrant and yet is averaging more kicks, handballs, possessions and marks per game this year.

Cloke will be a good player (after working on a few things), Medhurst has been productive and Reid has showed a bit in the VFL (considering he is still 17).

If you want to compare them, fine but understand this

Cloke is 20, got over 10 years ahead of him, still young and developing like the rest of the side for the next few years

Tarrant is mid 20's, should be in the prime of his career and was our 2nd highest paid player, sorry if some might have different expectations now of the 2 players

We needed KPP for the future, best way was to get high draft picks, Tarrant could be replaced by Rusling and Cloke easily, our crumbing is poor so Medders is perfect there, we improved our list

Freo claim they improved theirs, yet they are struggling, alot like Collingwood of recent years, falling just short in games they should win, if we still had Taz we would be 0-5 right now

Sorry to dissapoint, but the reason we got rid of Medhurst was because he couldn't crumb a fillet of fish if he worked in a bread crumb factory...next door to a fish shop...

The irony that we won by a point in a game that you would have predicted we'd fall short in. I'm not sure if you watched, but with 16 seconds to go, Tarrant (who had an average game in torrential rain) tapped the ball from a boundary throw in straight into the hands of Webster who was able to snap in space, thanks to Tarrant's great work.

Hard to imagine how you would be 5-0 if Tarrant was playing instead of Medhurst, when Medders has only played 3 games.

Initially I was a bit concerned about the Tarrant trade, but to tell you the truth I dont miss him at all now. We have had other players stand up and take his place (and actually be more accurate).

It is a win - win for both clubs. I don't think you will find many Pie supporters that are still dwelling over that trade. We have done well out of it.

Freo will be happy with Tarrant, I am now even happier he has gone.

Travis Cloke V Chris Tarrant
0.4Goals Per Game 2.2
1.6 Behinds Per Game 1.0

Erm, you've all been telling me Cloke has stood up in his abscence.

Just in case you're unaware, he's kicked a goal 1 out of 5 shots.

Stop reading with your eyes shut!. I never mentioned Cloke.

You said other people have stepped up and half a dozen on this thread have said that Cloke has filled the role. that's what was implied by my last post. Nowhere does it say that 'you' as an individual said Cloke. I said 'you all' as a collective term, seeing as the majority of those that have an opinion said Cloke. Stop reading with YOUR eyes shut or something.

I'm now interested to know 'who' you think has stepped up...seeing as you haven't mentioned a name.

Good luck with that one.

Cloke is 20 and has stepped up in he is now our go to man at CHF leading towards the wings. The absence of Tarrant has place more responsibility on his shoulders and I think it will pay dividends in the long run. If anything Medhurst looks like filling the role Rusling would've had. That is a leading option out of the square or the pocket. Speaking of Rusling, he would be in the same situation as Cloke in terms of having more responsibility.

I really don't undertand what you are trying to get at, you are trying to fight battles that aren't really there. What exactly is your point RE. Tarrant? I think we all agree it would be great for Freo especially short term. We all conceded we may have had troubles without him in the team but it would force younger players to step up, specifically Cloke and Rusling.

Yeah thanks so much for Tarrant. He does wonders for our forward line. The 50 goals he'll kick this year, won't compare to the 100 Pavlich kicks because of his presence.
Both players had better get a move on and lift their game then. Pavlich after 5 games is not close to averaging enough goals to kick 100, and he is in fact closer to matching last season when Tarrant wasn't even there.

Tarrant on the otherhand was bagged last season, and critical of his own performances while blaming injuries, yet he has in fact gone backwards! Last season at Collingwood he averaged more possessions and marks and about the same amount of goals in 20 matches in a poor season than he so far for Freo this season in 5 matches.

Not only that, but after 5 matches of last season, Tarrant had 72 possessions, 41 marks, and had kicked 11 goals in a poor season. After 5 matches this season, he has had 52 possessions, 29 marks, and has kicked 10 goals. Although he has time to turn his poor season around, it is about what I expected.
When Farmer comes back it will only get better.
Funny you should mention that. Farmer kicked more than 50 goals last season, yet he probably won't play this season at all. I have no idea how Freo are going to replace his input, and the Dockers won't kick as many goals this season as they did last season. They don't have Medhurst to call on anymore as well!
Just can't believe you traded him at 26 yrs old for the 25yr old Medders and an unproven youngster.
I can't believe that Freo gave up the important number 8 draft pick and a dangerous 25 year old Medhurst, for a 26 year old Tarrant that has so far gone backwards on a poor season. I'm obviously not complaining though of course if Tarrant's form to date is any guide. He has time to turn it around though, but he better pull his finger out. Unless of course you are accepting of this mediocrity.

Can a fan of Collingwood or Fremantle tell me that they're unhappy with the trade?

It seems to me that the rarest of things has actually happened..... both sides are happy with a trade.

Fremantle have got a leading forward who compliments and frees up Mathew pavlich, alowing him to play to his HUGE potential, while Collingwood have gained a crumbing forward who (in all honesty) will probably kick about the same amount of goals as Tarrant, along with a promising youngster?

Whats bad about this for either side????
Sounds good to me.:thumbsu:

Just out of interest, can anyone think of any other trades which both sides have been happy with... off the top of my head i cant.

Judd to Collingwood for a gram?? That'd be a win/win wouldn't it? :D

Totally agree, but most on this site get more pleasure from bagging the players.
