Tex is currently on 498 goals. With 9 goals in the last 2 games coming back from a lengthy stint on the sidelines, he’s currently averaging 4.5 goals per match. With a simple extrapolation, 500 goals is well within Tex’s grasp in round 6 against the Doggies.

If we’re judging him on onfield performance, he’s got to rank right up there as one of the greatest modern big forwards who were captains, a la Tredrea and Brown.

If Tex plays every game this year and he's every chance to get close to that milestone.

I'd been keen for him to go around again next year if his body is up for it. He's still so important to our forward line and until Thilthorpe is ready to take the #1 mantle having Tex would be beneficial.

Re: Tex, it has indeed been a joy. I remember years ago reading of his 6+ goals for Broken Hill, then in the SANFL. It was very exciting journey to be a part of.

The more Tex is moving towards that goal territory, the more the comparisons are warranted. In fact, I just did a stats comparison:

Tex is averaging 1.5 disposals and marks less than Tredrea. However, the key stats in goals/behinds are currently exactly the same! (Both averaging 2.2 goals and 1.4 behinds per game)

Amazing how Tredrea has got 4 All Australians, while Tex hasn’t yet received any.

Pretty crazy to think Tex is the only Crows to kick 500 for the club. Pretty historical moment really, as we may never see another player do this in our lifetime again. Unless perhaps Rachele, if he stays with us for the entirety of his career.

Honestly the guy is playing like there’s not much time left in his career, 0 pressure and just enjoying himself out there. The way he moves, can kick both sides of the body beautifully, we’ve got a massive hole to fill once he’s gone, enormous.

His skillsets are enormous for a big lad. You could probably play him
as a midfielder when he was at his most agile. A very unique talent, that somehow was picked at #75. Probably one of our biggest draft bargains ever!
