I can't catch a ******* break, I've f’ed my ankle again. It was sore during training yesterday and then on the way home it was swelling. This is my third ankle sprain in 12 months.

I had a practice on Sunday, but now I can't play and wont because i wanna be able to play during the season. I will go see the physio at Marvel Stadium at 1.10pm hehehehe :stern look
Injuries can just gagf really. Someone should ban them.

Which one did you get? I roll with the Garmin Fenix 5 but curious what others use.

Forerunner 920XT. A bit tempted to get a fancy newer one when they are half price, which seems to be every few weeks, but it does everything i need and the battery lasts for ages.

My running buddy has some flavour of Fenix 6. Apart from a bunch of functions I don't care about, it has a half way usable on screen map, optical HR (which is probably mostly useful for resting HR) and its GPS may be a bit better than mine in some circumstances. On the couple of occasions the GPS on mine has lost where we are it has kept signal, mine is sometimes a little bit out when doing laps of an oval and the Fenix 6 may do elevation more accurately. It always shows more elev gain when we've run the same course. That may just be a different smoothing algorithm though.
 
I got to use my gps for the first time! Coaches had to force me to sit out in some of the drills so I did some light running. I didn’t go all out as highlighted in efforts hahahahaha but it’s cool to have a look at although my ankle is cooked 2A75B7BD-E01F-4C99-A04A-6A737DA247D0.jpeg
 
Let’s have some positivity after yesterday.

Today was the first match of my season!!

First Qtr: quiet, got a score involvement and was quiet, got a behind. Playing HF.

Second Qtr: quiet again on HF.

Third Qtr: coach put me as Ruck Rover (mind you I’ve never played there before) first centre bounce running through the pack get the handball and got a massive clearance in 50. Then 7 min mark I got my first rotation to the bench lol then gone back to HF.

Fourth Qtr: I just ******* dominated, tackles, spoils, intercept marks, i50s, my mids and I were on fire. At the start of the Qtr we were 7 points down and we just piled on the goals. I remember they had it in the centre circle and I just dived to smother it and we just played the chaos ball and it resulted in a goal. Last minute my half back was making a run and the girl is like 7 meters behind her so I just sprint to give the big Shepard but just like zurhaar I came off second best LOL was on all fours dying E9ECF548-2F51-4165-9132-2B1C347A3A16.png

Stats for the game. Im under conditioned but played a ******* awesome game being Ruck rover.

Great stuff. Making me jealous, I'd love to be back out there for round 1.
 
This is my best game in the 2022 season, played 95% as a half forward, 5% on ball. Got really involved in the full ground switches, runs were great. The one thing that pissed me off was that when the ball was on the top of the 50 I had a nice position and all alone and I was screaming at them and not one look at me :((( pretty proud of my running efforts, I am still building though CD98A1A0-109F-49ED-B119-9ADAF8D84FA6.png

Was applying a lot of forward pressure, taking marks on the wing, tackling. I have to say one of my runs was astounding, CHF pushes up to the middle of the field to get the mark, for some reason I have 2 girls on me but I burn them both off and made more of an L lead rather than a hook to the top of the 50 and took the mark, pushed back quickly and passed it off to the pocket and we kicked one. I polled highly in the votes, pretty happy about that one.
 
How do you guys play with sprained fingers? I sprained it in the warm up and it had blown up so bad overnight. I brought a splint for it but not sure how to about things. Pic for reference

Friend of mine saw a finger specialist for something similar and they told him to rest rather than play through otherwise it just keeps blowing up and never healing properly.

I've got a pinky that won't straighten after doing similar in my younger years.

Ahhh okay I might see if I can get a proper splint so I can wear it in a game
 
Been smashing 3+ hours of knee rehab a day now. Going strong, am still very motivated (although a long road ahead). Much more aggressive in my rehab this time around and moving around a lot better as a result.

Will get back to pumping upper body weights when I feel like my movement is good enough to get around the gym and not swell it up for no benefit.

If it is just sprained, not broken, the splint won't do anything that taping won't. That being said, I would be careful about the joints, I have some wonky fingers from breaks and dislocations I didn't look after.

I thought my pinky was just sprained and I taped it and the doctor said I narrowly missed surgery because it was broken💀

The thing with taping tho is I don’t wanna keep potentially pinging it, I need it to heal as best as it can as it is like you said around the joint. It kills folding clothes😭
 
Quick update guys: smoking hasn't really helped. I don't want to do more than 2 darts a day, so it's only providing limited benefit to lowering my food intake. Plus I drink more beer because I smoke next to the bar fridge on the deck. I also cough a lot, run out of breath easy, and can't be bothered going for my evening walk.
1 star. Do not recommend.

If you’re serious beer fridge should be in garden shed behind the mower 🤣
 
I've been riding to work (around 25-26km round trip) 3-4 days a week on average since traffic kicked back into gear a couple of months back. Happy to say that along with a bit of a break from booze has seen me knock around 4-5kgs off. Hoping to get another similar return over the next 2-3 months which should make running a bit easier on the body. My biggest worry is that I'm churning through podcasts at an alarming rate...
