Rolled over to Part 2:

Why not say that, then?

Because it's too specific (and provable bollocks).

Just look around at what gets put in the "woke" bucket. Look at what gets excluded, even though it is exactly the same, but the conservative version.
You are asking why we say the longer definition rather then just a short single word that explains it? Do you really want me to explain how words work?

Cool story.

"Woke" has a thousand meanings, depending on time of day and what the speaker last ate. It's a nonsense word for nonsense people.

Uneducated right wingers misuse the words socialism and woke to mean anything they dont like to the left of their own views.

chiefs interpretation of this: the words woke and socialists has no meaning.

non woke liberals response: um its not the labels that matters. Its whether or not something exists or not that matters. If you dont want to call it woke then we really dont care what you call it. But you cant pretend it doesnt exist because other people have captured the word for other purposes too. Words are not magic that determine the existence or lack of existence of phenomenon. They are just labels for phenomenon.

Yeah, not what I said.

Woke is basically used as a non-academic word. A cauldron for RWNJs to brew up mischief and misinformation.

"Socialist" has plenty of analysis to back up a specific meaning and examples.

DOES AH NID 2 XPLEEN WORDS 2 U BRUH?!

Seeds Your problem is that you need to believe you're above everyone else, while also being able to claim victimhood.

Your position requires us to have equality. But if you're pushed on equality, you'll point out that we're better than other countries, or we're better than we used to be, or it's near enough as makes no difference etc etc.

Your position only holds, if we actually have/had reached equality.

Somewhere in 2023 your metamorphosis into 'right wing' will be complete.

Huh?

ive only been pointing out other groups views in this thread recently. Not my own.

I feel like the left do the same with "racist". They are both used as a term to explain away some point from the other side without actually having to explain anything, it's pathetic and lazy.

It can be unfairly applied, yes.

so your issue is still just the word?

fine we can just call them identitarians then. I dont really care what they are called.

ps. Woke was a term used by some left wing academics and protesters in reference to left wingers being woken from a false myth that a meritcratic colorblind society as pushed by liberals was achievable. this lead such people down the path of wanting to focus solely on equal outcomes for each race/sex etc and believing sex/race etc is very important to ones identity. The term woke has a jazzier punch to it then identitarians. But in the end the word does not matter. Its just a label to define a people with a certain viewpoint.

There are lots of words like that. Never trumper, racist, sexist, woke, socialist, Terf, globalist, warmonger.

all words that many posters think are arguments in themselves. I.e. If they think they can label someone as belonging to such a group then they automatically win the argument regardless of context, relevance or accuracy.

It sounds like you've been reading some RWNJ blogs.

'Racist' actually has a meaning though, as in you can actually get racist people. What is 'woke'? How many people actually suffer due to someone being 'woke' or due to 'wokeness' in society?

The problem with the line about "the left calls everyone racist", is how often they turn out to be right as time goes by.
That's why certain groups have to cling to the few exceptions that prove the rule.

Like that anti-abortion prick.

I think the meaning of either word is quite arbitrary, but they are used (and misused) in a similar way of course, that was really all I was pointing out.

Well it's this sort of justification that encourages labelling s**t you don't like as racist I guess.

Well, where we disagree is what we consider racism or a racist. Maybe we can find some common ground?

Trump. Racist?

I don't know and I really don't care to be honest, I'm actually not in the practice of labelling people as racist or not.

Though interestingly I believe Trump increased his share of the female and latino vote in the last election and lost ground with the white middle aged male crowd, not what you'd expect from a lot of the rhetoric you hear.

Here you go, I'm assuming their facts are right.

Why did you bring it up?

Bring what up, "racist"? I think I explained that earlier when talking about "woke" and "racist"

It was a yes or no. You should have just said "no". Instead of the rest of your post.

You don't think he's racist. You're allowed to say it.

Glad to hear your definition of racist is so binary, these things aren't as clear to me.

That's on you. Either you're not informed, or you don't find racism that objectionable, if it isn't overt.

"The left call everything they don't like, racist". Is a right wing talking point that's lost gleam over the years.
There's all kinds of lunatics on social media. But the line was used to defend many of the main mouthpieces for the right.

That's an interesting take ha ha, but if it makes you happy I'm ok with it.

And this is pretty close to my original point to be honest
