Player Watch Shai Bolton - The Next Best Player In The Game

Tracking really nicely as that mid/forward role. An AA selection this year isn't out of reach.

Don't think he will ever be the best player in the game, but at any given moment he's capable of things few players are.
Yep, changed the trajectory of the match this arvo when he went into the centre at 25 points down halfway through the 2nd Q and was part of the next 3 centre clearances which resulted in goals. You really felt his impact at the ground and the Hawk supporters near us were just crying out for someone to just tackle him ... good luck with that.

I care very little for "best player in the game" tags and he'll never draw the AA attention like the plethora of kickchasers around the league do. I'm just very happy he's near untackle-able and capable of the almost unbelievable around goals.

Just like Noah Bolton eh?

Having a good game against a bottom 6 team in Hawthorn is hardly worth carrying on like a pork chop.
are you ok? if you're going to argue something argue on point. I didn't mention Noah.
I mentioned Bolton who is one of the most skillful players in the AFL. perioid. and he is still young and his game is developing.

Charlie is a good chance to win the Coleman this season
Stay mad though.

Media loves him a lot more than Bolton too (esp Derm) :)
Brereton ? The same bloke who said Dusty will be nothing more than a waddler & Aaron James will be the next Wayne Carey, let's agree Charlie & Shai are going to be stars for years to come

Fair enough, gonna be really exciting when we play you guys again later this year, if the weather holds up, could be a crowd of 80 K plus at the G

Bolton is exciting. Dusty 2.0 he is not though.
Of course not.

They are both rotating mid/forwards.
Shai is outside with the ability to impact inside too.
Dusty is inside with the ability to impact outside too.

Shai can go missing vs strong oppo, while Dusty revels in it, and as a big strong inside player can always get his own ball, while Shai relies on the team having ascendency more.

Shai doesn’t go missing against strong opponents? He was our best vs Melbourne last year and many other contenders, think you’re basing that on 1 poor performance this year. Go back and look at his games over the last few years.

Dermott also memorably wrote a column back in 2010/11 about how Tom Hawkins would not make it in the AFL.

Love to hate Hawkins
Such a good player and it shits me 😂

It must piss of players and umps, that he makes the skills of the game look so easy! Heck, most of the players these days, won't even attempt to bounce the damn ball!

He will never win a brownlow, they are reserved for players who can't kick!

Let's not forget his classic statement that Mark Williams (Hawthorn and then Essendon) would be the greatest player to have played AFL by the end of his career!

Wayne Carey who encouraged Carlton to trade pick 1 (Walsh) to Melbourne for Bugg, Tyson and Frost
