Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Ben Brown didn't want to stay at North and rejected a huge contract despite having degenerative knees. Shaun Higgins wanted to leave for personal/family reasons and the rest of them delisted were no hopers or cooked. We were shite in their last year on the list too so they wouldn't be adding anything. I'm against priority picks but this myth about us willfully trading away good senior players is bullshit. Most were no good and the couple of decent ones wanted to leave.
You don't reckon that playing Dumont on the wing, McDonald in the backline, Bosenvulagi in the VFL would make you a better team?

Maybe it does. But you can't seriously think that Dumont makes North Melbourne a significantly better team than what they are currently.

Dumont is a mediocre footballer. Moving him on was the correct thing to do.

Not enough to move the needle no. 100 point floggings might turn into 80 point floggings if that is a positive. I like Trent Dumont and was advocating in a couple of threads that Carlton pick him up as 2 way running winger. He was a C-B grade wing/midfielder for us but never looked like taking that next step, a 15-20 possession a game type. North have invested heavily in the midfield over the last few years and the youngsters need games. It seems clear to me that the club want to find out whether guys like Bailey Scott, Curtis Taylor, Jack Mahoney, Lachie Young, Atu and Flynn Perez can make it as AFL footballers and are giving them plenty of opportunity. Some of them will improve and will stay, some of them won't and will be traded/delisted. The guys we have delisted over the last couple of years have either been not good enough or mature c grade talents. Some people forget when they bring up delistings in the past that we were near the bottom of the ladder with an old list which the worst place to be. It's rebuild time and we are going to cop quite a few hidings over the next few years until the youngsters have some games under their belts.

Regarding Atu in particular, that is a list management issue regarding not having enough talent in defence (tall and small) which has been raised by all and sundry on the North board. Hopefully this is addressed in the MSD and the upcoming draft. We have drafted a couple of mid size defenders like Bergman and Goater but clearly their bodies aren't ready for AFL footy.

All fair points but then your playing an experienced small defender in mcdonald on the wing because you don’t have wingers. Seems like dumont could slot in nicely, McDonald to backline and provide leadership for the inexperienced defence.

From the team on the weekend the deadwood includes mahoney, Hayden IMO - don’t think they’ll ever be better than a below average football player.

What over 30s players did we recruit?

Lol an extra pick because you lost prelims?? We will be asking for pick because we would have won less than 12 games in 3 years.

Can you name a team that won less than 12 games in 3 years and didn't receive a PP?

The last time you were competitive - Jarrad Waite, Drew Petrie, as well as hanging onto your own players well into their 30s. You took a shot and missed, and then double down by getting rid of players like Ben Brown and Dumont, now you pay the price like everyone else. The reference to us is the speed at which teams can turn it around. Had we got an extra top 5 pick in 2011/12 those 1 goal losses in 2014/2020 probably turn into flags. North is building up a selection of very handy young mids, but your senior players are a bunch of useless crabs. Even Goldy got beaten up by a 5th gamer on the weekend. There is no need to overshoot the mark with handouts. People can see that the core of young players are there and 2 more years of bottom 4 finishes will have you nicely stocked with some of the older 'young' players starting to hit their prime years and being able to physically compete with the better players in the comp.

Jarrad Waite
Drew Petrie
Ben Brown
Trent Dumont

One of these is not like the others.

'Getting rid of players like Ben Brown'. Thanks for outing yourself as clueless.

Lol what? We recruited Petrie when he was 18.

Dumont is terrible.

Maybe don't post about football.

Always thought that about the potential of priority picks. Hawks, Pies, Dogs and Saints all built very good teams with a priority pick and when Port rebuilt during the 2009-12 period an extra pick would have very useful in those close finals games. Always felt we were 1 quality player off.

north may experience the same during there rebuild without that help also.

Port had 2 lean years and finished bottom 4 once. You needed a really bad 2013 to have been a chance for a PP but played finals.

CCJ dropped again
You can post this now but your supporters were causing a fuss and acting like fools whenever any of ours suggested he wasn’t worth more then a 3rd rounder last year, check the Coleman jones page last year for evidence

Hes going backwards at North.
Straight out he’s better then xerri, the coaching panel just have this stupid idea that they need to pump games into him so that he doesn’t try to leave again next year. The other mistake is that he should be playing key forward and helping larkey out.

Of course he should be playing forward. In the First XXII too. But he had a key forward position already sewn up at Richmond for 9 of the next 10 years and opted out because this year wasn't one of the 10. Or, alternatively, he wrongly regarded himself as a ruckman.

Dont mind Xerri. Everyone at Richmond apart from ccj himself apparently knew that he was a forward/ruck.

Your SuperCoach list manager held all the cards.

The PSD threat, Richmond potentially losing the Chol compo.

That trade is a third rounder at best every day of the week when you have that sort of leverage over the other party.

Something definitely stinks at North though. Both CCJ and Stevenson are too good to be playing magoos for the worst team in the AFL.

Bottom clubs should consider the PSD their priority pick.

It's something gifted to you by the AFL where you can sign one out of contract player for nothing.

The fact that clubs would choose not to use it is borderline incompetent.
